EMPLOYMENT

Dec 2008 to current - WME Engineering, Central Coast, NSW Secondary Site Manager Worked for six years for this metal fabrication and engineering company whilst continuing

my studies. For the first four years I worked as a labourer in the workshop learning the ropes, hand creating and installing steelworks such as prison cell fronts and building constructs such as elevator shafts and suspended walkways in schools, police stations, court houses and prisons.

This position has given me exposure to and experience with a variety of workshop metal fabrication processes and worksite operations including materials requisition, sub-contractor management, time management and construction plan reading/communication.

This company tenders and works primarily for government agencies such as Public works, giving me an excellent insight into tender processes and the importance of accurate documentation, record keeping and interdepartmental communication.

For the past two years, I have progressed to assisting in the tendering process and acting as a secondary site manager under the main site manager; assisting him and working alone on smaller sites such as school refits and repairs wherein I would manage a range of subcontractors for various works while maintaining a high standard safe working environment due to kids being present for much of the works.

NOTABLE WORK SITES

Gosford Public School Construction of two new external elevator towers and adjacent walkways to allow for disabled access to all buildings and floors. Site required excavation, block work, scaffolding, electrical, elevator specialists, roof plumbing, metal work, painting, carpentry.

Newcastle Courthouse Installation of metal works for John Holland. Worked as a metal fabrication subcontractor wherein we fabricated and installed all goal cells, officer stations and legal cell fronts.

Silverwater Correctional Complex Installation and replacement of metal works to existing holding cells in an active prison system.

Orana Juvenile Justice Centre Long period of works undertaken within the facility in which we would be sealed into a cell block alone without access to the outside without personal escort from guards. This required forethought planning as all work and materials had to be accounted for each day. No additional materials could be brought in once we were given access and phones were confiscated upon entry due to the secure nature of the facility.

The Entrance High School Most recently I oversaw the remedial work for The Entrance High school. The required works was to remove concrete cancer from the external face of the first floor concrete beam around the admin block, expose and treat the main steel support columns then reinstate all covering, remove and install new downpipe system and repair external ceiling water damages. All major works were required to be completed during the winter school holidays so as not to impede regular school goings on. All major work was completed on time and to a high quality standard. Pictures are available on request.

INTEREST & OTHER EXPERIENCE

Member of the Rural Fire Service (Yarramalong Valley) since 2008 Through the Fire Brigade I have completed Basic Fire Fighting, Crosscut Chain Saw training and am currently undergoing Fire line Dangerous Tree felling certification. Due to time restraints (Work &study) I have taken a lesser role in the RFS but still continue to contribute on larger planed operations such as back burns, large emergency fires and training/re-certifying cross cut courses. I have been in active service, fighting bush fires, taking commands from my Brigade Captain, Group Officers and working in a high strung squad based environment, whilst also needed to take my own initiative at times to ensure the safety of all whilst operating on an incident call from bush fires, car crashes, general emergency calls and planed tactical burns.

I currently possess several identity and background check documents such as Working with Vulnerable Children (in progress of obtaining), current NSW Firearms licence, NSW car licence – Never suspended, Forklift training & current certification card.

I am enthusiastic about being out in nature and enjoy camping, rock climbing, fishing and hunting. I have been pursuing these endeavours for many years and am quite passionate about them.
