5. Major Problems.

a. During the tirst tour montha ot the deployment, Charlie Colllplllly with support pereonnel wu deployed to camp Kinaer. In addition to the permanent camp construction, the deta.il waa ta.eked to provide ite own overhead support as well aa certain support !unctions tor CBPACDET Okinawa. Although a detaiJ. norma1ly provides its own support, the overhead and indirect labor in thia caee amounted to 5°" or the 100 men aaaigned. 'nda lett a company which normall,y contributes ~ direct labor providing only 5°" tor the first tour montb.e ot the deplo;rment. Superimposed on thia condition, the in-country relief ot another battalion which occurred about llid- deplo;rment caused the direct labor to dip even lower during late September and early October. 'Die labor bad to be 118ed to llOVe to the new location and accompliab another BEEP.

b. From 23 Febru&l'1 until the end ot the deplo111ent, the camp remained in a condition in which increaaed manning ot the lines waa required trom euneet to eunrise and increased readiness condi tiona waa ma.intained during the day. These tac tors again caused the direct labor to drop.
