DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU SATURDAY, JANUARY 9, 2016 (PAGE 7) DDC reviews progress under NFSA Excelsior Correspondent RAJPURI, Jan 8: District Development Commissioner, Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat today held a detailed review of the progress of implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the district. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Mumtaz Choudhary alongwith all the SDMs, tehsildars, BDOs and TSOs . Chairing the meeting, DDC was informed that the target of 3,66,000 has been fully covered under the category of priority households and their verifica- tion is also complete. It was also given out in the meeting that the uploading of the same will be completed within couple of the days. Meanwhile, DDC stressed for adhering to laid down proce- dures to ensure that forms received be checked properly through Tehsil level committees besides asking concerned TSOs to precisely cross check each form to avoid duplication of the same at Tehsil level. Gyaneshwar’s new book of Dogri songs released Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Jan 8: A new col- lection of Dogri songs, ‘Aaya Geeten Da Banjara’, by the cel- ebrated poet Gyaneshwar’, was released here today in the pres- ence of writers, artists and intel- lectuals representing different languages. Anil Goswami, former Home secretary GOI, Jugal Mahajan, former chief, Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu and V S Sambyal, Station Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu along with Chhatrapal, president Dogri Sanstha Jammu, released the book which incorporates 131 choicest songs. Congratulating the poet for producing a book that is consid- ered as a new benchmark in con- temporary Dogri poetry, Mr Goswami said that Gyaneshwar, a Sahitya Academi awardee, has brought laurels to Dogri by giv- ing most melodious songs. His songs represent his love for his land, its nature and the rich tra- ditions of Duggar, he added. Jugal Mahajan recalled his long association with Dogri Sanstha and eulogized its role in enriching Dogri language, liter- ature and culture. On this occasion, a paper that brought out salient features of the collection of songs in ‘Aaya Geeten Da Banjara ‘ was read by Susheel Begana. He highlighted the literary and aes- thetic qualities of songs. Earlier, Chhatrapal threw light on the literary qualities of Gyaneshwar who bagged the first Bal Sahitya Puruskar of Sahitya Academi for Dogri. The songs of ‘Aaya Geeten Da Banjara’ open up new windows of expression introducing new imagery, height of imagination and thought in Dogri poetry, he added. A musical presentation of Gyaneshwar’s songs, composed by the noted music director Brij Mohan, was the highlight of today’s programme in which young singers namely Manoj Bakshi, Chinmayee Sharma, Kusha Sharma, Roshi Shaminotra, Harleen Kour and Varsha Jamwal entertained the audience in their mellifluous voices. Rakesh Anand, Sanjay Pashi and Karan Malhotra pro- vided the accompaniment on flute, Guitar and tabla in mas- terly manner. Gyaneshwar also recited some of his choicest songs in the programme. The singers and artist were presented mementos by the dig- nitaries on behalf of Dogri Sanstha. Dr Nirmal Vinod con- ducted proceedings of the pro- gramme while vote of thanks was presented by Narendra Bhasin. CEO reviews National Voters Day arrangements Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Jan 8: To review the arrangements for celebration of National Voters Day which would be observed on January 25, Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shantmanu chaired a meeting of officers in his office chamber at Vikas Bhawan, here today. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, Director School Education Smita Sethi, Deputy Chief Electoral Officers, Raman Kumar Kesar and Rashpal Singh, Joint Commissioner JMC R. S Jamwal besides other senior officers of Chief Electoral Officer office. While reviewing the arrangements, Shantmanu impressed upon all the officers to make necessary arrangements for the celebration of national event to achieve the objective of the National Voter's Day. The theme of the National Voter's Day is "Inclusive and Qualitative Electoral participa- tion" in the electoral rolls by the electors. The Chief Electoral Officer stressed upon the officers to put in their synchronized efforts so that all the necessary arrange- ments are made well in time for smooth celebration of National Voters Day. The points which came up for discussion included, distri- bution of Election Photo Identity Cards (EPICs), admin- istration of NVD pledge to par- ticipants, fixing of banners at identified places, congratulatory messages to the citizens, besides various other related points were also discussed during the meet- ing. The theme of this year's event is "Next Generation Automobiles". Special Focus would be on "Mechatronics". The Expo will be inaugurated by Transport Minister Diwakar Raote and over 50 thousand people from all over western India are expected to visit the exhibition. Proposed displays at AUTO'15 Expo include Passenger Cars, Two Wheelers, Auto Components and Parts, Test & Measurement systems, Sensor Technology, Oil & Lubricants, Garage / Service Station Equipment, Tools, Tyres, Auto Accessories, Car Security Systems, Auto Finance and services, Research & Development and Publications. There would be special focus on concept vehicles, designed / modified vehicles, vintage and classic vehicles, and Electric & hybrid vehi- cles. A separate Defense Pavilion would display some prominent vehicles and requirements of spare parts by the Indian Army. Seminars, conferences and audio - visual presentations are held concurrent to AUTO'15 in order to dissemi- nate information on techno- logical trends in the automo- tive industry. Floriculture Deptt organizes meet of seed suppliers, growers Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Jan 8: A meeting of the flower seed suppliers, growers and marketers was organized today by the Department of Floriculture here. The meeting was chaired by Director Floriculture Jammu, AK Gupta and attended by progres- sive flower growers from differ- ent districts of Jammu Division including Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Bhaderwah district. The meeting was aimed at easing out the growers’ difficul- ties in purchasing hybrid flower seeds. During the meeting, the Director asked the growers to make interactions with the seed suppliers like Befo Sheetal, KT Enterprises and Sacata. Rajesh Bittu, chairman, J&K Cooperative Union, Kulbushan Khajuria, president, J&K EIDA and Tejinder Singh, president, J&K Flower Growers’ Association along with the offi- cers of Floriculture Department including SK Sultan, Floriculture Officer Jammu, DV Gupta, Nodal Officer CSS, Ishtiaq Ahmed Malik, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Sharma AFO (HQ) and Sunil Singh, AFO Kathua, attended the meeting.
