DDC reviews progress under NFSAExcelsior Correspondent

RAJPURI, Jan 8: DistrictDevelopment Commissioner,Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhattoday held a detailed review ofthe progress of implementationof National Food Security Act(NFSA) in the district.

The meeting was attended byAdditional DeputyCommissioner, Rajouri,Mumtaz Choudhary alongwithall the SDMs, tehsildars, BDOsand TSOs .

Chairing the meeting, DDCwas informed that the target of

3,66,000 has been fully coveredunder the category of priorityhouseholds and their verifica-tion is also complete. It wasalso given out in the meetingthat the uploading of the samewill be completed within coupleof the days.

Meanwhile, DDC stressedfor adhering to laid down proce-dures to ensure that formsreceived be checked properlythrough Tehsil level committeesbesides asking concerned TSOsto precisely cross check eachform to avoid duplication of thesame at Tehsil level.

Gyaneshwar’s new book of Dogri songs released

JAMMU, Jan 8: A new col-lection of Dogri songs, ‘AayaGeeten Da Banjara’, by the cel-ebrated poet Gyaneshwar’, wasreleased here today in the pres-ence of writers, artists and intel-lectuals representing differentlanguages.

Mahajan, former chief,Chamber of Commerce &Industry Jammu and V SSambyal, Station Director,Radio Kashmir Jammu alongwith Chhatrapal, presidentDogri Sanstha Jammu, releasedthe book which incorporates 131choicest songs.

Congratulating the poet forproducing a book that is consid-ered as a new benchmark in con-temporary Dogri poetry, MrGoswami said that Gyaneshwar,a Sahitya Academi awardee, hasbrought laurels to Dogri by giv-ing most melodious songs. Hissongs represent his love for hisland, its nature and the rich tra-ditions of Duggar, he added.

Jugal Mahajan recalled hislong association with DogriSanstha and eulogized its role inenriching Dogri language, liter-ature and culture.

On this occasion, a paperthat brought out salient featuresof the collection of songs in‘Aaya Geeten Da Banjara ‘ was

read by Susheel Begana. Hehighlighted the literary and aes-thetic qualities of songs.

Earlier, Chhatrapal threwlight on the literary qualities ofGyaneshwar who bagged thefirst Bal Sahitya Puruskar ofSahitya Academi for Dogri. Thesongs of ‘Aaya Geeten DaBanjara’ open up new windowsof expression introducing newimagery, height of imagination

and thought in Dogri poetry, headded.

A musical presentation ofGyaneshwar’s songs, composedby the noted music director BrijMohan, was the highlight oftoday’s programme in whichyoung singers namely Manoj

Bakshi, Chinmayee Sharma,Kusha Sharma, RoshiShaminotra, Harleen Kour andVarsha Jamwal entertained theaudience in their mellifluousvoices. Rakesh Anand, SanjayPashi and Karan Malhotra pro-vided the accompaniment onflute, Guitar and tabla in mas-terly manner. Gyaneshwar alsorecited some of his choicestsongs in the programme.

The singers and artist werepresented mementos by the dig-nitaries on behalf of DogriSanstha. Dr Nirmal Vinod con-ducted proceedings of the pro-gramme while vote of thankswas presented by NarendraBhasin.

CEO reviews NationalVoters Day arrangements

JAMMU, Jan 8: To reviewthe arrangements for celebrationof National Voters Day whichwould be observed on January25, Chief Electoral Officer J&K,Shantmanu chaired a meeting ofofficers in his office chamber atVikas Bhawan, here today.

The meeting was attended byDeputy Commissioner Jammu,Simrandeep Singh, DirectorSchool Education Smita Sethi,Deputy Chief Electoral Officers,Raman Kumar Kesar andRashpal Singh, JointCommissioner JMC R. SJamwal besides other senior

officers of Chief ElectoralOfficer office.

While reviewing thearrangements, Shantmanuimpressed upon all the officersto make necessary arrangementsfor the celebration of nationalevent to achieve the objective ofthe National Voter's Day. Thetheme of the National Voter'sDay is "Inclusive andQualitative Electoral participa-tion" in the electoral rolls by theelectors.

The Chief Electoral Officerstressed upon the officers to putin their synchronized efforts sothat all the necessary arrange-ments are made well in time for

smooth celebration of NationalVoters Day.

The points which came upfor discussion included, distri-bution of Election PhotoIdentity Cards (EPICs), admin-istration of NVD pledge to par-ticipants, fixing of banners atidentified places, congratulatorymessages to the citizens, besidesvarious other related points werealso discussed during the meet-ing.

It was also informed in themeeting that the event will becelebrated across the State withlarge participation of variousstakeholders.

Floriculture Deptt organizes meet of seed suppliers, growers

JAMMU, Jan 8: A meetingof the flower seed suppliers,growers and marketers wasorganized today by theDepartment of Floriculture here.

The meeting was chaired byDirector Floriculture Jammu, AKGupta and attended by progres-sive flower growers from differ-ent districts of Jammu Divisionincluding Jammu, Samba,Kathua, and Bhaderwah district.

The meeting was aimed ateasing out the growers’ difficul-ties in purchasing hybrid flower

seeds. During the meeting, theDirector asked the growers tomake interactions with the seedsuppliers like Befo Sheetal, KTEnterprises and Sacata.
