Dapto High School Uniform Policy

Dapto High School endorses school uniform.

• Uniform has been determined by the school community including students, staff, parents and the P&C committee.

• Uniform promotes inclusiveness and a sense of belonging to our school.

• Wearing of this uniform creates a very positive image in the community.

• We are very proud of our school, the newly designed uniform, and our decision to create this as “gender neutral” in style.

• Uniform is available from the uniform store and the clothing pool.

Parents and caregivers are asked to fully support DHS’s Uniform Policy.

Uniform Availability

The uniform can be purchased at school from our Uniform Store.

Eftpos facilities are available.

Opening hours are: Tuesday : 12pm-3pm; Thursday : 8am-11am

We also offer preloved items from our Clothing Pool at minimal cost. Donations of “pre-

loved” are appreciated.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• Acceptable logos are DHS, VET, AIME, Representative Sport

• Black tights (leggings) only acceptable when worn with dress or shorts.

• Sports uniform to be worn on Thursday and for PE lessons.

• Black (logo free) track pants are ONLY to be worn in cold weather for sport.

• All jewellery should be appropriate and worn to comply with health and safety requirements: no oversized hanging earings please.

• All footwear must be safe –covered or lace up shoes that are leather or leather-like.

• School uniform must be worn daily/ to excursions /to examinations /for publicity photos for the newsletter and social media.

• All items of clothing and equipment should be marked with student’s name.

• If students are out of uniform parents/caregivers are asked to provide students with a note of explanation.

• Hats for sun protection are encouraged.

ON MUFTI DAYS (out of uniform days) students must be appropriately dressed for school.

• Covered shoes must be worn.

• No midriff tops or inappropriate short clothing.

• Singlet tops must be covered by a sleeved top.

• PE uniform must be worn to PE lessons on mufti days.

SHOES

Health and Safety legislation is influencing Dapto High School’s enforcement of school

uniform. Department Of Education guidelines are clear about the need for students to wear

enclosed leather shoes. If students are not correctly attired, they may not be able to

participate in subjects such as Science, Agriculture, Woodwork and Food Technology.

Students undertaking practical based subjects need to wear enclosed shoes that protect their

feet against spillage. It may be appropriate for students to wear boots for some subjects.

Local suppliers are aware of DHS requirements.

This Health & Safety requirement also applies to correct clothing and limiting jewellery for

many subjects.
