Alpha Course. A course to enable people to deepen
their faith or learn about faith is taking place on Friday nights at St Mary’s Church Hall, Clarence Street. Starting at
7.30pm, childcare and a meal are provided. Everyone, wherever they are on their faith journey, is welcome.
CAFOD Harvest Family Fast Day. There
is a special collection today following Friday’s Harvest Fast Day. The focus of this year’s Harvest Fast has been the provision of safe, clean drinking
water. A number of special Gift Aid Envelopes are available for those UK tax payers.
'Walk Away The Pounds' A weekly class on Thursdays at
10.30am for one hour in the church hall, commencing on 4
October. A dvd is shown detailing the walk moves, with
music, and is fun to do. No floor work. This is open to all
ages, women and men. Comfortable clothes and non-slip
shoes are required. £3 per session.

Lest We Forget…
the Autumn Concert of
Overgate Hospice Choir will take place at Halifax Minster on
Saturday 13th October starting at 7.00pm. The concert will
commemorate the centenary of the Armistice of 1918
Saying Goodbye Service. A special service for those who have suffered the loss of a child during pregnancy, at birth, or in
early years is being held at Bradford Cathedral on Sunday
21st October at 4.00pm.

Save The Date. St. Malachy’s
School will host its annual two course Christmas Dinner for the community on Wednesday 19th December at 4.00pm. Tickets,
priced £3 (£1 goes to the school PTF), will be on sale nearer the
time but people may want to note the date now!
Prayer Partners. St Malachy’s school would like to partner each of
their 197 pupils with a prayer partner. The child would pray for their prayer
partner who, in turn would pray for the child and his/her family. First names only are disclosed. Should you like to become a prayer partner please fill in one of the simple forms in the church
porch.
Hungry Box. £995.09 raised
over the last six months has been forwarded to the Halifax Food Bank at Emmanuel Church and
the projects run from St Augustine’s to support those in need locally. Many thanks for the generous support of the
Hungry Box initiative.
Open Parish Meeting. The next Open Parish
Meeting will take place in the Hall on Thursday 18th October at 7.00pm. The Agenda will include the half year Financial Report and Property Update.

A sincere THANK YOU for making the Macmillan Coffee Morning
such a success. THANK YOU to all who donated and baked, contributed
or worked very hard in ensuring that the event ran smoothly. The event was successful, because in whatever you did or however you contributed
or supported, you were truly AMAZING as the total raised for this
worthwhile cause was £305! At St Columba's there most certainly is a fantastic community spirit and especially in helping others.
