Congratulations to each and every one of the 22 speakers who did an
excellent job at the ATKV-redenaarskompetisie, looked great and did
Midstream very, very proud!
Midstream College Primary School will once again have 7 representatives
during the ATKV semi-finals, namely: Erik Botha (grade 3), Regardt van der
Riet (grade 3), Mienke van den Berg (grade 4), Angela Parker (grade 5,
Addisionele Taal), Alexander Britz (grade 5, Addisionele Taal), Kamogelo
Mokoene (grade 5, Addisionele Taal) and Leané Claasen (grade 7).
This is a wonderful achievement – well done!!
The semi-finals will take place on Friday afternoon (18 May) at Menlopark.

Grade 8 Admissions for 2019 close on Monday, 7 May 2018. It is compulsory for all grade 7 learners
to apply.

Tekkie Tax Day takes place on Friday 25th May. We are supporting this wonderful initiative this year!
The campaign is a joint venture between a few of SA’s biggest welfare organisations and the
beneficiaries include Epilepsy SA, SOS Children’s Villages, CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation),
Special Olympics SA and many more.
Those wishing to participate in the campaign can purchase a sticker to represent their chosen cause.
There are five categories, namely animals, hope, children, disability and education. A pair of funky
Tekkie Tag shoelaces can also be purchased to be worn on the day.
Learners can buy stickers (R10) from the tuckshop. Should your child wish to buy shoe laces, they will
be available from Petstream at R35 per pair. They are also available from all Clicks, ToysRus and
BabiesRus stores.
We can’t wait to share in the fun and hope to see many of our children in their school uniform with
tekkies on Friday, 25 May.
The spreekkoor from Midstream College did very well last year and our learners enjoyed it immensely.
The spreekkoor also set a very high standard at the Centurion Arts Festival and we would like to build
on this success in 2018.
We rehearse in the hall every Monday from 14:30 to 15:15. Our first practice will take place on
Monday, 14 May. All learners in grade 2, 3 and 4 are welcome.

Over the weekend of 5th – 6th May, six Midstream College learners will compete at Eaton Farm, in the
third Equestrian qualifier of the year. Our team has entered 29 events. Best wishes to all our riders.
The Yadah meets every Thursday at 7:10 in the auditorium. All grade 1 to 7 learners are welcome to
attend these morning gatherings where we do Praise and Worship, pray together and discuss
messages from the Bible.
The Grade 3 to 7 Yadah group that performs and is involved in outreach projects will be taking a new
and exciting path this year!
Yadah 2018 information session: An important information session will be held on Friday, 4 May at
14:00 in the hall for all parents and learners from grade 3 to 7 who are interested in becoming part of
the Yadah group that performs and is involved in outreach projects.
