ST. STAN’S TEEN CLUB Sleep over Monday, December 26 Ice Skating Tuesday, December 27
All the teens of the parish (grades 7th through 12th) are invited to our teen club’s annual Christmas sleepover. Please arrive around 6:30. We will have dinner together around 7pm. We ask that each person bring either a dessert to share or snack foods. There will be games and crafts and a movie marathon. If there is snow on the ground, come prepared to go sleigh riding. After Morning Prayer and breakfast we will spend sometime planning some of our upcoming events and then head to the McCann Ice Arena at the Civic Center for Ice Skating. The session runs from 12-2pm. Admission is $7 and $3 for Skate rental. There is a snack bar if you wish to purchase any refreshments. You can come for all or part of the event but please RSVP as soon as possible so that we can properly prepare.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES- We Need Your Help!!
We are once again asking for some volunteers to come forward to help us with some of the youth activities/programs that we have offered in the past. The Lightning Youth Group is for children in K thru 6th grade and usually met monthly for games, crafts, community service and always great snacks. The Children’s Choir/Jr. Folk Group would sing monthly at the 11am Mass. Ages ranged from 1st-high school. We will offer as much assistance as we can to help you get started. If you think you might be able to step forward and help please call the parish office.
GROCERY CARDS We have a program here at St. Stan’s, which might be of interest to you; our GROCERY CARD PROGRAM. This initiative allows us to sell Gift Cards from Adams, ACME, Tops, Stop & Shop and Shop-Rite in denominations of $50 and $100. We sell them to you at face value (which gives you that amount to use in the store) but we buy them from the merchants for at least a 5% discount (10%. This means that when you shop, our parish gets at least 5% of what you spend and it costs you nothing extra. Cards are available after all Weekend Masses in the Hall Kitchen, and during the week at the Office.

HAVE YOU BEEN ASKED TO BE A
GODPARENT OR SPONSOR? SPONSOR LETTERS
Every pastor has their own “policy” of how to handle requests for letters for parishioners to be a sponsor at Confirmation or a godparent at Baptism, When a letter is required, it is essentially a recommendation from one priest to another saying that the person is someone who will be a good example of what it means to be a Catholic Christian for the person they are “standing up for.” The Church expects that Sponsors be practicing their own faith and are in good standing sacramentally. A sponsor is someone who helps the person they sponsor on their faith journey. If they are going to help someone else on their journey, doesn't it make sense that they be walking that journey themselves? To accomplish this, each person needs to meet with Father Backes or Deacon John so that we can make sure they fulfill this role and understand this role If you are not doing this now, we would like to help you get back on track. Therefore, if you are asked to be a sponsor, please call the parish office for an appointment. We also request that you do not wait until the last minute to contact us. This way we will have time to work with you fulfill the requirements and to complete the necessary paperwork.
