Fire and rescue is, by its very nature, arisky business, and the risks are often un-predictable, especially when entering build-ings where visual contact with the fire-fighters is lost to incident command. DrägerMan Bodyguard® II is a key compon-ent of the new DrägerMan PSS® Merlinbreathing apparatus entry control system.Using digital telemetry, this revolutionarysystem makes it possible to remotely monitor the status of up to 12 individual BAwearers simultaneously.

DrägerMan PSS® Merlin is a two-way com-munication system incorporating an elec-tronic control board, a DrägerMan Body-guard® II and a portable radio unit attachedto the firefighter’s BA set.

The DrägerMan PSS® Merlin entry controlboard continuously receives and displayspressure, air time remaining, and tempera-ture data from the Bodyguard of each indi-vidual logged on to the system. In addition,it receives manual and automatic distresssignals and withdrawal signals. The officerin charge also has the ability to send evacuation signals to individuals, or to thecomplete team at the touch of a button. All signals can be given, received and acknowledged by the firefighter or officerin charge.
