Executive summary FERTINNOWA is a coordination and support action, involving 23 partners from 10 countries, that strives for a high degree of interaction within the project (between the different partners but also with the External Advisory Board which is considered as an internal feedback body of the project) as well as externally with the broad target community of the project, the so-called “FERTINNOWA-platform for exchange of knowledge on innovative water solutions for fertigation”. This platform consists of the consortium members on the one hand and stakeholders groups including policy makers, consumers, NGOs, the industry, growers, research stations, farm advisers and knowledge institutions on the other hand. The FERTINNOWA project needs a website to assist in the dissemination and communication of project outputs. Therefore a public and industry-facing website for the FERTINNOWA Project was launched on 31/3/16. This website acts as a primary tool to engage with the stakeholders (especially growers and the commercial fertigation sector, throughout the EU) and communicate the outputs of the project. The website can be viewed at www.fertinnowa.com

1 Objectives The FERTINNOWA project needs a website to assist in the dissemination and communication of project outputs. The main objectives of the website is to provide:

General information about the FERTINNOWA project, the project latest news and results to all stakeholders.

A source of industry-relevant resources to growers.

A platform for sharing technical information across the EU and South African irrigation and fertigation supply companies.

An overview of current activities and achievements.

A gateway to other relevant projects.

Relevant news and publications.

A restricted page to make meeting reports and other relevant documents available to the members of the External Advisory Board.

The website is updated constantly throughout the lifetime of the project, and a link are included as a reference point in all printed materials and partner's websites.

2 Implementation Benchmark of similar projects websites

Prior to the development phase, a benchmark of similar projects websites has been made to gather helpful ideas to optimise the selection of the information to be highlighted, its presentation and its spatial organisation. It is designed to be informative with plain language to ensure wide communication with diverse categories of stakeholders and external audience.

Setting out the “Wire frame” (January 2016)

A draft ‘wireframe’ (structure) for the website was initiated in January 2016. This was shared and edited by the project consortium.

Tender (18th of January – 15 February 2016)

The revised wireframe together with the logo and other branding materials were then put out to tender. Three companies responded to these communications – Ardent Creative, Tiki Design and Design Magic. Of the three companies responding, there was no reason not to go with the cheapest quote provided (Tiki Design) and they were duly appointed.

Design The website was designed in alignment with the FERTINNOWA logo, ensure attractiveness to users and provide easy access to information on the site. There is a top and left navigation and Quick Links section on the home page to allow easy navigation around the site.

Information uploading (1 February - 15 March 2016)

Text for the website was generated and shared across the consortium, and comments and edits made before uploading. The general information of FERTINNOWA was translated by the consortium members in the languages of the involved European Member States. The main project information is translated into French, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch, Polish and Slovene.

Launch of the website (1st of April 2016)

Content Updates and Maintenance

WP6 leader, its team and the project coordinator take care of publishing regular updates and enhance the structure during the project lifetime. Text for the website is generated and shared across the consortium, and comments and edits made before uploading. During the life of the project, all partners will provide information to be uploaded on the website A process of continual improvement and information uploading is ongoing and will continue throughout the life of the project.
