Good afternoon. Hi, everyone. My name is Ivna and now I am going to present to you my demonstration class. First of all, Id like to explain to you how my demonstration is going to happen. I took the most important stages of the class and shrank then into slides so that you can overview how I am going to proceed with the students. I included some audio visual material `cause I find that they play an essential role on helping the learning process and bringing the language into the students everyday life. So lets start: today we`re going to talk about something we all very much like which is our free time during weekends and vacations and how we like to spend it and then tell our friends all about it! First, I would like for you to watch a classic movie scene I believe most of you must have already seen. There are some highlighted words that are gonna show up but dont you worry about it, `cause we re only gonna talk about then later on!1

DISCUSSION AND BRAINSTORMING2WHAT ELSE DO PEOPLE USUALLY DO ON VACATION?STAY AT HOMESEE MOVIESVISIT FAMILYGO TO THE BEACHGO SWIMMINGWATCH TVPLAY SOCCERREAD BOOKSTRAVELSo we`ve seen Sandy and John Travolta telling their friends about their summer nights activities, such as drinking lemonade, go bowling, staying up until late hours. Now tell me about you guys? What do you usually do on your vacations? What are usual activities people like to do on their free time? At this point, after hearing from the students many activities, we would have a significant number of verbs in the infinitive form to get the students familiar to this vocabulary. Considering that, lets do some exercise!3STUDENTS ACTIVITYWhere is Waldo?

Picture AVacation at the beachPicture BVacation at a camping fieldDo you know Waldo? Well, first, lets split the class into 2 groups and each group will get a picture. In picture A, Waldo is hidden a the beach and in picture B he is hidden in a camping field. Each group will have to find 5 typical vacation activities in the picture and, obviously, find where Waldo is as well. After that, you need to describe to the other group what you`ve found.42 VOLUNTEERS TO READMeeting a friend at the hallJASONHi, Amy. So lets talk now about some grammar. If I draw a graphic of time and consider these areas as future, present and past, the vacation and weekend activities we discussed about are all located where? Yes, in this part of the graphic: the PAST! Whenever we`re talking about PAST ACTIVITIES, such as vacations and weekends that already passed, these activities and actions HAPPENED IN THE PAST AND THEY ARE NOW FINISHED.10TO VISITVISITEDTO WATCHWATCHEDTO GOWENTTO SEESAWTO STAYSTAYEDTO DODIDINFINITIVE PAST SIMPLE TENSETO MEETMETTO DRINKDRANKTO PLAYPLAYEDTO VISITVISITEDTO CLEANCLEANEDTO EATATETO COOKCOOKEDTO READREADInfinitiveInfinitivePast SimplePast SimpleLets see now some verbs turned into the past simple tense. Usually, we need to ad an ED at the end of the verbs but there are some exceptions we`ll discuss another time. READ. Can you see that this other column has something different from the first one? Yes, thats because these verbs are unique, theyre called.11Regular AND IRREGULAR VERBSTO VISITVISITEDTO WATCHWATCHEDTO GOWENTTO SEESAWTO STAYSTAYEDTO DODIDTO MEETMETTO DRINKDRANKTO PLAYPLAYEDTO VISITVISITEDTO CLEANCLEANEDTO EATATETO COOKCOOKEDTO READREADREGULAR VERBSIRREGULAR VERBSIRREGULAR verbs because they do not respond to a rule or pattern such as adding ED at the end. They have their own and special form when turned into their past simple verbs. The only way of learning is by memorizing them, but it gets easier as we keep using them on our days.12PRONUNTIATION RULES Coming back to the regular verbs, they are presented in 3 different categories of pronunciation! We have the /t/ sound (READ) the /d/ sound . And the /id/ sound . Can you repeat with me?13WHEREWHENHOWDIDYOUHeSheWHOACTION(infinitive)HOW TO ASK QUESTIONS?

Well, in order to get to know about someone`s weekend or vacation, we first need to know how to ask it, right? How do we do that? We have here these pronouns ( WHERE WHEN HOW WHO) which need to be followed by the verb to be IN THE PAST (cause what we want to know happened in the past) then the pronoun referring to whoever you`re talking to ( YOU HE SHE) and then FINALLY the action you wanna know about IN THE INFINITIVE FORM because the verb to be is already in the past simple, right? Now lets see some examples!14WHEREWHENHOWDIDYOUHeSheWHOGOGO WITHSTAY THEREHOW LONGHOW TO ASK QUESTIONS?
