Mr. Osmond-Clarke was proposing The Association; and in his reply Dr. W. S. Tegner, president of the Association, was able to report that, as this approached its 2lst anniversary, the specialty was going from strength to strength. Dr. A. C. Boyle welcomed The Guests, and Dr. Martin Ware responded. Royal Medical Foundation of Epsom College The governors will meet to elect a president of the college on Wednesday, May 13, at 3.45 P.M., at the Medical Defence Union, Tavistock House South, Tavistock Square, London, W.C.1. Central Midwives Board Mr. Arnold Walker has been re-elected chairman and Prof. A. A. Moncrieff deputy chairman of the Board for the coming year. Orthopaedic Research Post Prof. Norman Nisbet has been appointed director of research at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopxdic Hospital, Oswestry. Professor Nisbet holds the chair of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Otago, Dunedin. British Council for Rehabilitation of the Disabled This Council will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, May 13, at 3 P.M., in H.Q.S. Wellington, Temple Stairs, Victoria Embankment, London, W.C.2, when Mr. Norman Capener will speak on Rehabilitation-Ends and Means. Biochemical Society This Society is to hold a meeting with the Swedish Bio- chemical Society in Stockholm on May 14 and 15, when the programme will include a colloquium on advances in separation and structural analysis. Slesinger has been appointed chairman of the board of governors of Guy’s Hospital. Mr. Slesinger, who is consulting surgeon emeritus to the hospital, has been vice-chairman of the Board since 1948, and its acting chair- man since the death of Lord Cunliffe last November. Mr. Slesinger began his association with Guy’s Hospital as a medical student and joined the staff as a surgeon in 1920. Sandoz Foundation Lecture Prof. J. Chassar Moir will give the Sandoz Foundation lec- ture in obstetrics on Thursday, April 30, at 5 P.M., at University College Hospital Medical School, London, W.C.l. The title of his lecture is to be the Obstetrician Bids and the Uterus Contracts. Contraceptive Standard In the first of a proposed series of specifications for contra- ceptives, the British Standards Institution has laid down requirements for rubber condoms (B.s. 3704, obtainable from Sales Branch, B.S.I., 2, Park Street, London, W.l. 4s. 6d.). This project was undertaken at the request of the Family Planning Association. A postgraduate course in industrial health is to be held at the medi- cal school, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, on Thursdays at 2.30 P.M. from April 23 to June 11. The Ministry of Health will pay the fees of general practitioners in the National Health Service who are accepted for the course. The southern region of the Association of Clinical Biochemists is to hold a meeting on Friday, May 1, at 7 P.M., at the Feathers Inn, 34, Tudor Street, London, E.C.4, when Dr. A. H. Gowenlock will introduce an informal discussion on the work of the scientific committee of the Association. CORRIGENDA: H omocystinuria, Thrombosis, and the Blood-platelets. -In this paper by Dr. Lawson Macdonald et al. (April 4, p. 745) in table i the footnote " 2 estimations per day " refers to " platelet count " and " platelet stickiness ", and the second footnote "using thrombokinase only to the " one-stage prothrombin time ". In the discussion, in the sentence beginning " Using Born’s (1962) method", the phrase " the aggregation of blood-platelets in vivo " should read in vitro. Measurement of Blood-flow through Skeletal Muscle by Intramuscular Injection of Xenon-133.-The correct initials of Dr. Lindbjerg, one of the authors of this paper (March 28, p. 686), are I. F.
