Mr. Osmond-Clarke was proposing The Association;and in his reply Dr. W. S. Guy’s HospitalMr. E. G. Slesinger has been appointed chairman of the

board of governors of Guy’s Hospital.Mr. Slesinger, who is consulting surgeon emeritus to the hospital,

has been vice-chairman of the Board since 1948, and its acting chair-man since the death of Lord Cunliffe last November. Mr. Slesingerbegan his association with Guy’s Hospital as a medical student andjoined the staff as a surgeon in 1920.

Contraceptive StandardIn the first of a proposed series of specifications for contra-

ceptives, the British Standards Institution has laid down

requirements for rubber condoms (B.s. 3704, obtainable fromSales Branch, B.S.I., 2, Park Street, London, W.l. 4s. 6d.).This project was undertaken at the request of the FamilyPlanning Association.

A postgraduate course in industrial health is to be held at the medi-cal school, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, on Thursdays at2.30 P.M. from April 23 to June 11. The Ministry of Health will paythe fees of general practitioners in the National Health Service whoare accepted for the course.
