Please enter or exit the auditorium between ensemble performances only. It is polite
to wait at the back of the auditorium until an appropriate pause in the program.
Children in the audience should be seated with a responsible adult. If the child with you
becomes noisy or cries, please take the child from the auditorium at anytime to soothe
him or her.
Your appreciation is shown not only by your applause after their performance, but also
by your silence during their performance. Students have worked extremely hard to
develop soft musical dynamics.
A selection is finished when the conductor turns and faces the audience or when the
conductor drops arms completely. Please refrain from applause until that time.
While applause at the end of a selection is appreciated, whistling and shouting is not.
During a selection solos should be applauded only if they are of a pop nature (jazz,
swing, etc.)

You can make a difference in the life of a Lakewood
child right now!
“Adopt a Musician!”
The Lakewood Music Department is trying to gather 250 sponsors who are willing to donate
$30.00 each so that any 5th grader can have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
Recently, two graduates of the Lakewood High School Music Department were given full
scholarships to college because of their ability to play their instruments. These proud musicians
will be the first members of their families to attend college. You donation may change another
student’s life direction.
Your $30.00 sponsorship will cover the pay to participate fee for one student to begin the
instrument of their choice in 5th grade. Last year, we started 250 students in both Band and
Orchestra in the 5th grade. The Lakewood Music Boosters have been assisting with
scholarships, and they are committed to continuing to assist.
The goal is to gather enough sponsors to begin the 2011-2012 school year so that every child
who wants to learn an instrument has the opportunity.
