WHERE SKIING IS THE STAR
Fast and comfortable lifts, gondolas, comfortable chair lifts with padded
seats, moving belts for easy boarding, perfect trails and guaranteed
snow where planned snowmaking cover 80% of the trails.
Skiing in Abetone means variety on 54 km of trails which unfold along
different and diverse sides of the mountain: wide slopes on Mount
Gomito leading on to the Zeno trails, the Regine and Selletta trails lined
by century-old woods, the expansive Alpine ambience in Val di Luce and
the steep Coppi run at Pulicchio.
The resort extends along the crest of the Apennine Mountains and sits
between the regions of Toscany and Emilia Romagna.
Abetone is ideally located approximately one hour by car from Florence,
Lucca, Pisa, Livorno, Modena and Bologna and even less from Pistoia.
This makes Abetone the Tuscan ski resort par excellence. The view from
the summit of Mount Gomito, the resort’s highest elevation (1,930 mt)
is incomparable: on sunny days the view extends to the Tyrrhenian Sea,
Versilia and Corsica. Looking to the north, the snowy peaks of the Alps
and PreAlps stand out high and mighty.
In Abetone, even the cuisine is definitely Tuscan: typical and hearty
mountain dishes, complemented with Chianti or Brunello wines which
can be enjoyed in one of the many lodges on the slopes, ideal for a
quick stop, or in one of the more typical wood panelled ambiences with
private dining areas and spacious outside decks.
Eighty years of skiing history.
Abetone was one of the first Italian ski resorts with lifts. Last but not
least, Abetone was the home of two renown Olympic and international
champions such as Zeno Colò and Celina Seghi. Still nowadays, the
resort is known for the many important international ski races it hosts.
