NATIONAL SEMINAR
ON
“EMERGING ROLE OF PHARMACY PROFESSIONALS TO
ENSURE GOOD PHARMACOVIGILANCE PRACTICES”

WELCOME OF THE GUESTS/DELEGATES
There was an august gathering of distinguished and eminent personalities during the seminar. The
National seminar received a grand opening under the sound and able patronage of Dr. D. K. Modi
Ji, President, Dr. K. N. Modi Foundation (Dr.KNMF) and with the gracious presence of Capt.
Rajiv Saksena Ji, Vice President, Dr.KNMF and Shri Meghraj Sharma Ji, Administrator, Dr. K
NMF.
Dr. D.K.Majumdar (Ex-Prof. & Head, Dept. of Pharmaceutics, DIPSAR and currently,
Consultant, Dept. of Pharmacy, Apeejay Satya University, Gurugram) was the Chief Guest. So
many other distinguished and well- known personalities from Pharmaceutical arena were also
present to glorify the occasion.
A warm welcome was offered to all the guests and Delegates with tilak ceremony. More than 250
delegates participated in the seminar.
INAUGURATION
The programme started with the formal welcome of the dignitaries followed by the lamp lightening
ceremony to get the Blessings of Maa Saraswati – the Goddess of Knowledge and wisdom. Capt.
Rajiv Saksena Ji, Vice President, Dr. KNMF and Shri Meghraj Sharma Ji, Administrator, Dr.
KNMF addressed the delegates and showered their good wishes and blessings for the National
Seminar. Prof. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Director, Dr. KNMIPER formally introduced the Chief
Guest, Dr. D.K.Majumdar and invited him to deliver the Key Note address. After that, Dr.
D.K.Majumdar Consultant, Dept. of Pharmacy, Apeejay Satya University, Gurugram delivered the
Key Note Address. In the key-note address, Dr. Majumdar shared his scholastic wisdom with the
delegates and expressed his views over the theme of the seminar i.e. role of pharmacy professionals
to ensure good Pharmacovigilance practices. Dr. Jagannath Sahu, Director , KIET School of
Pharmacy , Muradnagar also offered his good wishes for the seminar. The inaugural session was
followed by a tea-break.
FIRST TECHNICAL SESSION
In the first technical session , Prof. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Director, Dr. KNMIPER formally
introduced the Guest Speaker and the Subject Expert - Dr. Jai Prakash, Senior Principal Scientist ,
Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission , Ghaziabad . Dr. Jai Prakash delivered a Power Point
Presentation on the Topic- “Quality and Standards of Drugs”. In his talk, Dr. Jai Prakash
highlighted the significant role of IPC, Ghaziabad in maintaining the quality and standards of
various drugs. He also put emphasis on the emerging role of pharmacists in ensuring the application
of the principles of good Pharmacovigilance practices in the pharmaceutical arena. As a token of
respect, Prof. Vijay Kumar Sharma presented memento to Dr. Jai Prakash. It was then followed
by the lunch break.
SECOND TECHNICAL SESSION
Mr. Pranjal Kumar Singh, Assistant Prof. Dr. KNMIPER, formally introduced the second guest
speaker- Dr. Ravi Prakash Rao, Assistant Manager Global Medical, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs,
Fresenius Kabi Oncology Ltd, Gurugram. Dr. Ravi Prakash Rao delivered a Power Point
Presentation on the Topic- “Pharmacovigilance: Ensuring the Safe use of Medicines”. In his
talk, Dr. Ravi discussed how the safe use of medicines can be ensured by appropriate applications
of principles of good Pharmacovigilance practice. As a token of respect, Prof. Vijay Kumar
Sharma presented memento to Dr. Ravi Prakash Rao.
WORDS OF APPRECIATION FROM THE SPONSORER
The Institute of Good manufacturing Practices India (IGMPI), Greater Noida sponsored the event
and also exhibited the details of activities in the form of stall at the seminar place. Representatives
of IGMPI namely Miss Ridhima Gupta along with her colleague narrated the brief introduction
about the activities carried out at IGMPI.
They Also appreciated the initiative taken by Dr.KNMIPER to spread awareness among the
students, teachers, researchers and industry people about the significance and importance of
Pharmacovigilance practices. As a token of respect, Prof. Vijay Kumar Sharma presented
memento to the representatives of IGMPI.
VOTE OF THANKS AND VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
The programme ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Vijay Kumar Sharma, Director
Dr.KNMIPER.
Prof. Sharma extended heartfelt gratitude to Respected Dr. D.K. Modi Ji, President, Dr. KNMF, for
his guidance and blessings. He also thanked Capt. Rajiv Saksena Ji, Vice President, Dr. KNMF and
Shri Meghraj Sharma Ji, Administrator, Dr. KNMF for their continuous motivation.
Last but not the least, Prof. Sharma also expressed his thankfulness to all the students and faculty
members of Dr.KNMIPER for their cooperation. He particularly mentioned the name of Mr.
Ashwani Kumar Chaturvedi, Astt. Prof. Dr.KNMIPER, for playing vital role in the successful
conduction of the seminar, being the Organizing Secretary of the event.
At the end, the valedictory function took place and the certificates were distributed to the delegates.
