Martha has been my patient since October, 2011. Since then, Martha has been seen in this office at least every three months to manage her chronic medical problems and I personally have seen her for the majority of her office visits. Martha's son, Eric Grimm, has been present for nearly all of the office visits when she has seen me and if he was not present, she was accompanied by a care taker who communicated directly with Eric. Eric cares deeply about Martha's well being and he does all that he can to meet her financial, medical, physical and social needs. Martha lives with Eric and he does shopping, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, and transportation for her. He says that he has a home care that dispenses her medications and another home care that comes three times a week to help with bathing. Eric goes beyond getting Martha to doctor's appointments by also arranging transportation for Martha to various activities and exercise classes at Tanglewood senior center. I have also spoken with Martha alone about her relationship with her son Eric and she is happy with the care that Eric has provided to her, although she does have an unrealistic view that she does not need anyone to care for her. It is my professional opinion that it would be in Martha's best interest to remain in the care of her son, Eric Grimm, because he has cared for her well thus far and genuinely wants to do what is best for her well being.
