1. SH. KESHAV CHANDRATOOK OVER AS CHAIRMAN &MANAGING DIRECTOR OF DTTDC

Sh. Keshav Chandra,IAS, took over as Chairman &Managing Director of Delhi Tourism on 30th September, 2015.He succeeded Sh. Z. U. Sidiqqui, IAS who was holding charge of Delhi Tourism from 15th June, 2015 till30th September, 2015.

2. MS. SAUMYA GUPTA TOOK OVER AS MANAGING DIRECTOR & CEO OF DTTDC Ms. Saumya Gupta, IAS, took over as Managing Director & CEO of Delhi Tourism on 6th November, 2015. She succeeded Sh. Keshav Chandra, Chairman, DTTDC who was holding the charge of Delhi Tourism as Chairman and Managing Director from 30th September, 2015 till 6th November, 2015.

3. ‘IDGAH’ – Play starring artists of Mind Power and Theatre Workshop at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri (20th September, 2015) The Centre of Theatre, Arts & Child Development, ‘Udaan’ in association with Delhi Tourism organized a play titled ‘Idgah’ written by the prolific writer, Munshi Premchand and directed by Sh. Sanjay Tuteja. The young artists as trained under Udaan’s Children Mind Power and Theatre Workshop displayed their talent on stage at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri on 20th September, 2015.

The event was inaugurated by Sh. Z.U. Siddiqui, former MD & CEO, Delhi Tourism. Sh. Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Hon’ble Member of Parliament and Sh. Rajesh Rishi, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly were also present. The sole aim of this workshop is to instil

self confidence in the children so as to minimize hesitation and the fear of public speaking and Dilli Haat Janakpuri provided the perfect platform for these children to exhibit their skills.

This event was organized with an aim to nurture the talent of children and illumine the artists within them. The little shining stars enthralled the audience with their spectacular performance.

4. WORLD TOURISM DAY

(27th September, 2015)

Celebrated across the globe on September 27, the prime purpose ofWorld Tourism Day is to spread awareness on the role of tourism in the world and its importance in social, economic and cultural spheres.In order to draw the attention of the masses to the role of tourism in building a sustainable future, an array of activities was organized by Delhi Tourism to mark the celebration. Keeping in mind this year’s overarching theme, “One Billion Tourists – One Billion Opportunities,” DelhiTourism in association with INTACH planned an innovative and unique way to uncover Delhi’s rich heritage

on cycles by engaging heritage enthusiasts. The Cycle Tour was flagged off bySh. Kapil Mishra, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Delhi in the presence of Sh. Z.U. Siddiqui, former MD & CEO, DTTDC along with other senior officials. The 7 kilometres long tour covered monuments of Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Period in and around Mehrauli area.

Delhi Tourism also launched Wi-Fi services at Dilli Haat, INA by Sh. Kapil Mishra logging on free Wi-Fi. Vodafone had been chosen as the preferred partner by DTTDC to deploy world class carrier grade, and secure Wi-Fi services at this location to enhance the overall experience of the visitors for them to stay digitally connected on the go through 20 minutes of free high speed internet access.

The third event to mark the celebration was a Street Food Festival inaugurated by Sh. Kapil Mishra at Delhi Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Lajpat Nagar.

Other activities like musical performances by the bands of police and paramilitary forces at Dilli Haats (INA and Janakpuri) and traditional welcome of tourists at Delhi Tourism information counters were also the highlight of the day. Visitors while sipping on their regular cup of coffee at Coffee Home, Connaught Place, enjoyed the calming tunes of piano music with a live performance at the venue.

Delhi Tourism had also planned complimentary sight-seeing tours for the visually impaired and differently-abled students.The Corporation facilitated free entry at all the three Dilli Haats and Garden of Five Senses. Special discounts were offered to the walk-in tourists availing Local Tours on 27th September, 2015.

5. WEEKLY PROGRESS OF SIGNATURE BRIDGE (September – November, 2015) The Engineering Division organizes regular meetings and inspection sessions at the Signature Bridge to resolve various issues for efficient and speedy completion of the work. A progress report is prepared on a weekly basis which can be viewed on the website of Delhi Tourism at http://www.delhitourism.gov.in/delhitourism/dttdc/signature_bridge.jsp. Work done during 7.11.2015 – 13.11.2015:

i. Founding P23: a. Drilling in Pile No. 29 on upstream started, but collapsed.

ii. Pylon Erection: a. Solution of corrective measures for pylon completed b. Bracing fixing started between L2 segments

iii. Other on-site activities:- a. 1 main girder on main deck placed in position b. 2 cross girders placed in position

Bracing was fixed up between l2 segments of Pylon. It was a challenging task after noticing an error of 40 mm between Pylon segments. After a 2months exercise to identify the cause, the error has been rectified successfully by the engineering team of the project.

6. CITIZEN CHARTER (September, 2015) This is the first time that Delhi Tourism brought out an informative Citizen Charter which carries relevant and crisp information regarding the tour and travel activities and properties of Delhi Tourism. The Citizen Charter can also be viewed on the website of DTTDC.

7. DELHI TOURISM’S PARTICIPATION AT PATA – 2015 (6th – 8th December, 2015)

Delhi Tourism also participated and took the opportunity to promote its incredible range of products. Delhi Tourism has been actively participating in National and International Tourism exchange programmes and exhibitions to promote Delhi as a tourism hub while

showcasing their own services.

The 38th edition of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) was hosted by Department of Tourism, Govt. of Karnataka from 6th – 8th September, 2015 at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).DTTDC participated in the event as a seller organization and had set up a stall exhibiting Delhi’s tourist attractions to showcase the Capital City as Tourist-friendly destination, which attracts over 60% of foreign tourists visiting India. Other State Tourism boards also participated including

Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Orissa, Maharashtra, Goa, MP, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan to name a few.

The three day Business to Business (B2B) trade event attracted over 1000 delegates from 61 countries this year which included buyers, sellers and Trade visitors besides senior functionaries from the Travel Industry and Media. Sessions / Talks were also held on various Travel related segments such as – Changing Travel Consumer Perceptions and Behaviours, Trends in Technology for Tour Operators, Presentation of PATA Gold Awards hosted by Macau Govt. Tourist Office, IT scenarios by Karnataka, Innovative Travel Solutions, Transformation of Shopping and Booking Habits by Indian Travellers, Technology Trends Defining Business Strategy, etc. addressed by experts.

DTTDC had set up a stall with a view to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the city and promote Delhi as a tourist-friendly destination. Tourist literature, including CDs on Delhi, was distributed from the DTTDC stall to the visiting delegates.

8. NAVRATRI CELEBRATION AND DJ DANDIYA, AT DILLI HAAT, JANAKPURI (16th – 21st October, 2015) Delhi Tourism organized DJ Dandia Masti at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri from 16th – 21st October, 2015 to celebrate the Navaratra festive week. The venue had various attractions including handicrafts and handloom stalls, food court and children’s rides.

The Navaratra festival is one of the important Hindu festivals and is dedicated toworship of Goddess Durga. Nav means nine and Ratri means night, thus the festival is celebrated for nine days in devotion to nine forms of Goddess Durga.

Special stalls were put up for pooja and decorative items like Toran and Bandhan Bar were on sale. Idols and paintings of Gods and Goddesses, ethnic gift items and women accessories were available at special prices to mark the celebration of this festival. DJ Dandiya played exclusive tunes of the festival and people danced their evenings away in joy and fervour.

9. KAYAKING & CANOEING COMPETITIONS (23rd – 25th October, 2015) Delhi hosted its first canoe Sprint Championship on Yamuna river from 23rd – 25th October, 2015. The event was conceptualized to showcase to showcase the “cleaner and brighter” side of the Yamuna river. More than 50 students who participated received training from a BSF coach and the boats were provided by Delhi Tourism. The winners were also given medals.

The three-day canoe championship is among a series of events that Sh. Kapil Mishra, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Delhi, has planned to bring people back to the banks of the Yamuna.

10. CULTURAL EVENT AT DILLI HAATS, JANAKPURI & PITAMPURA (24th October, 2015) Dilli Haat Janakpuri, was the venue for a cultural programme organized by Ministry of Art, Culture and languages (National Central Zone Cultural Centre). The programme included performances of 9 different

states showcasing their distinct and vibrant folk dance and music. A cultural programme was also held at Dilli Haat, Pitampura.

11. DIWALI MELA AT DILLI HAATS (INA &JANAKPURI) [ 6th – 8th November, 2015 - Dilli Haat, Janakpuri ] [ 6th – 11th November, 2015 – Dilli Haat, INA ]

Dilli Haats lit up to the Festival of Diwalias Delhi Tourism organized Diwali Mela at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri from 6th – 8th November and at Dilli Haat, INA from 6th – 11th November, 2015. During the auspicious festival of lights and celebrations, like every year, both the Dilli Haats were brimming with vibrant stalls selling handicrafts, handlooms and exclusive gift items. Decorative candles, floating diyas, vandanwar and other decorative items like rangoli stencils were also be available to offer the people a perfect way to adorn the décor of their homes.

To add on to the festivities, regional food delicacies, joy rides and camel rides were other attractions at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri.

The evenings at Dilli Haats emanated a mood of celebrations and fervour with cultural programmes organized by the Sahitya Kala Parishad and Punjabi Academy.The visitors indulged in this festive mela with great enthusiasm and excitement.

12. HON’BLE MINISTER FOR TOURISM VISITS DTTDC HEADQUARTERS (10th November, 2015) On the occasion of Diwali, Sh. Kapil Mishra, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Govt. of Delhi visited DTTDC Headquarters motivating the entire workforce of the Corporation by delivering inspiring words and offering his best wishes during the festive season. “Together with dedication and hard work, the entire team of Delhi Tourism shall aim to make the city of Delhi as one of the most sought after tourist destinations at a global level,” he said.

13. PARTICIPATION IN INDIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR (IITF) (14th – 27thNovember, 2015) Like every year, Delhi Tourism had put up a stall at the 35th India International Trade Fair (IITF) from 14th – 27th November, 2015. The highlighting feature of the stall this year was the Signature Bridge being

featured as the upcoming iconic bridge of Delhi. An illuminated model of the Signature Bridge was also set up to exemplify the upcoming landmark bridge of Delhi.

CONDÉ NAST TRAVELLER INDIA READERS’ TRAVEL AWARDS ( 24thNovember, 2015 ) Condé Nast Traveller India, announced the winners of the fifth edition of its Readers’ Travel Awards at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi on the 24th November, 2015. New Delhi bagged the award of the Favourite Indian City (Runner-up) and undoubtedly, this is a meaningful recognition to have received. The award was given away by the Chief Guest, Shri Vinod Zutshi, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and was collected by Shri B.L. Agrawala, Company Secretary &Sr. Chief Manager (PR & Pub.) on behalf of Delhi Tourism.
