These
assessments
are
administered
using
paper
scan
sheets,
whicharethenscannedovertotheMISofficeusingthenetworkedXeroxcopiersinevery
building.
NYS38 Districtinternallyscans(NCSscanner&ImageScanToolssoftware)andscorestheNYSanswersheetsbeforetheyaresentovertotheLHRIC. Rawresultsarereviewedand
releasedto
teachers
and
administrators.

MISofficetakesthescannedimages(fromtheXeroxcopiers)andrunsthemthroughtheTeleformstestscoringsoftware(localandregentsexams).
Inthe
early
days
of
our
model,
test
scores
were
emailed
to
principals
and
it
was
up
to
the
principalstogetthedatatotheteachers. Thisstepwasineffectiveanditbeganadiscussionfor
abettersolution.

DataAnalysisusingtheInstructionInformationPortal(IIP) TheIIPwasbornouttheneedtoquicklyscoreanddistributeassessmentdataandreportsdirectlyintothehandsofteachersandadministrators.
Thedistrictwantedasystemthatwaseasytouse,webbased,teachercentric
andcould
be
customized
to
the
various
assessments
and
needs
of
both
the
.
Systemneededtobeavailableatalltimesfrommultiplelocations,whileprovidingusefuldata/reportstodriveinstructionandcurriculumreview.
TheIIPwasbuiltonaMicrosoftSQL2005databaseserver,usingInternet
InformationServices
(IIS),
the
ASP.net
programming
language
and
it
was
unveiled
totheteachersbeginninginNovember2006.
TheIIPwasdesignedspecificallyforK8classroomteachersfirst,sowemadethe,
assessmentreports.
