LMIGHTY God, who through thine only-begottenSon Jesus Christ hast overcome death, and opened

unto us the gate of everlasting life: we humbly beseechthee; that as by thy special grace thou dost put into our

minds good desires, so by thy continual help we maybring the same to good effect; through Jesus Christ ourLord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, and the HolySpirit, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

    THE EPISTLE. Colossians 3. 1.

RETHREN: IF ye then be risen with Christ, seekthose things which are above, where Christ sitteth

at the right hand of God. Set your minds on thingsabove, not on earthly things; for you have died, andyour life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, whois your life, shall be made manifest, then shall you alsobe made manifest with him in glory.

Mortify, therefore, your members which are upon theearth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness which is idolatry; because of whichcometh the wrath of God; in which you once walkedyourselves when you lived in such things. But nowyou must put it all off: wrath, anger, malice, slander,

and filthy talk out of your mouth; lie not to oneanother: cast off the old self with its evil deeds, andput on the new, which is being refashioned untoknowledge according to the image of its creator; inwhom there is neither Greek nor Jew, neithercircumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian or Scythian, bond or free, but Christ is all in all.

and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

Then she runneth and cometh to Simon Peter, and tothe other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith untothem, They have taken away the Lord out of thesepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, andcame to the sepulchre. So they ran both together; andthe other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first tothe sepulchre; and he, stooping down and looking in,saw the linen cloths lying; yet went he not in. Thencometh Simon Peter following him, and went into thesepulchre, and seeth the linen cloths lie; and thenapkin that was about his head, not lying with thelinen cloths, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple which came firstto the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yetthey knew not the Scripture, that he must rise againfrom the dead. Then the disciples went away againunto their own home.

EMEMBER Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, ofthe seed of David, according to my gospel: wherein

I suffer trouble as an evil doer, even unto bonds: but

the word of God is not bound. Therefore I endure allthings for the elects sake, that they also may obtainthe salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternalglory. This is a faithful saying:

For if we be dead with him, we shall also live withhim.

If we endure, we shall also reign with him.If we deny him, he also will deny us.If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful; he cannot

deny himself.Of these things put them in remembrance.

EHOLD, two of Jesus disciples went that sameday to a village called Emmaus, which was from

Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. And they talkedtogether of all these things which had happened. Andit came to pass, that while they communed together, and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went withthem. But their eyes were holden, that they shouldnot know him. And he said unto them, What mannerof communications are these that ye have with one

another, as ye walk? And they stood still, lookingsorrowful. But one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered and said unto him, Art thou only a strangerin Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which arecome to pass there in these days? And he said untothem, What things? And they said unto him,Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophetmighty in deed and word, before God and all thepeople: and how the chief priests and our rulers

delivered him to be condemned to death, and havecrucified him. But we trusted that it had been hewhich should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this,to-day is the third day since these things were done.Yea, and certain women also of our company made usastonished, which were early at the sepulchre; andwhen they found not his body, they came, saying thatthey had also seen a vision of angels, which said thathe was alive. And certain of them which were with uswent to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the

women had said; but him they saw not. Then he saidunto them, Foolish ones, and slow of heart to believeall that the prophets have spoken: ought not Christ tohave suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses, and all the prophets, heexpounded unto them in all the Scriptures the thingsconcerning himself.

There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas calledDidymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and thesons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. SimonPeter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say untohim, We also go with thee. They went forth, and

entered into a ship immediately; and that night theycaught nothing.

But when the morning was now come, Jesus stoodon the shore: but the disciples knew not that it wasJesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have yeany meat? They answered him, No. And he said untothem, cast the net on the right side of the ship, and yeshall find. They cast therefore, and now they were notable to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore

that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It isthe Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it wasthe Lord, he girt his fishers coat unto him, (for he wasnaked,) and did cast himself into the sea. And theother disciples came in a little ship; (for they were notfar from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,)dragging the net with fishes.

As soon then as they were come to land, they saw afire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have

He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; andlike a lamb dumb before his shearer, soopened he not his mouth: in his humiliationhis judgement was taken away: and who shalldeclare his generation? for his life is taken fromthe earth.

And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I praythee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself,or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth,

And as they went on their way, they cameunto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here iswater; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And he commandedthe chariot to stand still: and they went down bothinto the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and hebaptized him. And when they were come up out ofthe water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on hisway rejoicing. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thyfinger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thyhand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said untohim, My Lord, and my God. Jesus saith unto him,Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hastbelieved; blessed are they that have not seen, and yethave believed.

If we receive the witness of men,the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness ofGod, which he hath borne concerning his Son. Hethat believeth on the Son of God hath the witness inhimself: he that believeth not God, hath made him aliar, because he believeth not the witness that Godgave of his Son; and this is the witness, that God hath
