First I created the masthead by using the Coolvetica font, then, using the lasso tool I cut out the lines from the text.

The ribbon was made by using a rectangle tool and cutting out the bottom using the lasso tool. I then coloured the ribbon with a light gradient and added an inside shadow to it. There is also two faint stripes down both sides of the ribbon which were made with rectangles and reducing the opacity.

I used the text tool for the text on the page and edited the settings for the fonts under the character window such as the kerning (Spacing between letters), font size and text decorations such as italic, bold etc.

I added the bands to the ribbon on the left side and created the footer using the rectangle tool. The cutaway on the “Plus” section was made in the same way as I did for the ribbon.

I then added the image of the band to the cover which I had taken and applied some effects under image->adjustments. First I changed the colour curves and increased the contrast, I also needed to colour correct Adams red cheeks so they didn’t stand out as much.

I created a torn paper effect by creating a rectangle and cutting into it using a feathered lasso and added a drop shadow to it.

I made sure their heads were in front of the ripped rectangle which would make a good effect. To do this I created a layer mask and made a new layer via copy of the selected area. I then moved the new layer above the ripped rectangle.

The masking tape is a brush I imported into Photoshop which gives the illusion that the polaroid pictures have been stuck on with the tape.
