• AFPMH was founded in 1981 in Bangkok with five member countries of ASEAN -Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Philippines
• ASEAN J Psych was inspired in 1991 and has published many articles from the ASEAN region
• Mission - to disseminate current and contemporary knowledge in the field of mental health and psychiatry from these culturally diverse countries.

• Peer reviewed journal • Issues per year – two • Covers a wide area of mental health and psychiatry
from basic experimental laboratory work to clinical area.

Scope of the journal
Original articles
This category is intended for full-scale basic or clinical studies. Original articles should not exceed 5,000 words (not including structured abstracts of up to 250 words, 3-5 key words, references, tables, and figures) with a maximum of 5 figures and 5 tables in total.

Review articles
This category is for scholarly, comprehensive reviews that summarize and critically evaluate research in the field addressed and identify future implications. Review articles should not exceed 5,000 words (not including structured abstracts of up to 250 words, 3-5 key words, references, tables, and figures) with a maximum of 5 figures and tables in total.

Opinions
This category is intended for articles expressing views, judgments, and/or advices on the matters relevant to mental health and psychiatry. Opinions should contain no more than 1,500 words (not including structured abstracts of up to 150 words, 3-5 key words, references, tables, and figures).

Short reports
This category is for smaller, self-contained laboratory or clinical studies,including preliminary reports and case series. Single cases will not be considered in this category and should be submitted as Case reports. Manuscripts in this category should contain no more than 1,500 words (not including structured abstracts of up to 150 words, 3-5 key words, references, tables, and figures).

These should briefly report single experiments and cases of clinical interest. Manuscripts in this category should contain no more than 1,000 words (not including structured abstracts of up to 150 words, 3-5 key words, references, tables, and figures).
