When you look Up at nighttime, how many stars can you see? 50 years ago , the night

skies in Korea were full of millions of stars. Since then, many things have changed.

In addition to the ‘Yellow Dust' from the Gobi Desert, factories in Asia send tons of

dangerous chemicals into the air. Along with p이lution from all the cars in Korea,

this contaminates the air we breathe, as well as causing acid rain.

It’s an amazing fact that the number of people on the Earth will triple between 1950

and 2050. If people are the cause of pollution, then we can see why there is so much

of it today. Water supplies have been exhausted, thousands of animal and plant

species have become extinct, and we are fast using up fossil fuels that took millions

of years to form. What are we doing to the world? What will people think of us in

2050?

People in the future will see that fossil fuels caused global warming, which melted

the polar ice. This raised the sea level, covering coastal cities, and making millions of

people homeless. Farmland became deserts and storms in wetter areas became

severe, as part of global climate change.

Is there any way we can stop 파월 happening? It’s easy to think “ The problem

is too big. Nothing 1 can do will make any

difference." However, if we remember the

words of Helen Keller*’ we can see that

every effort is valuable: “ 1 am only one.

1 cannot do everything, but 1 can do

something. 1 will not refuse to do the

something 1 can do."

*Helen Keller (1880-1968) was an American author and

lecturer. She was blind and deaf from the age of 2.
