El ruidoInstructions:If you think your kids need more listening practice, read the story on page 2 to your kids first. If you feel like your kids have had enough listening practice from PQA and the movie talk and easily understand what you’re saying in Spanish, feel free to skip the listening practice on p. 2 and just go straight to Versión 1 of the reading (p. 3).
If you don’t read the story to them, it’s still a good idea to ask the questions on p. 2 after they read the story to check their understanding.
An answer key for the reading activities is on p. 6.

Instructions:When I read stories with my students, I read a sentence in Spanish and then have students act out the story or draw it while I’m reading so they can show understanding. Feel free to say the sentence as many times as they need to hear it! Kids can also listen to a recording of the story and draw it. The QR code and link is below.
You can either tell the kids what the bolded words mean in English as you go or write the words on the vocabulary list.
You can then ask the questions below about El ruido for kids to answer. The questions are also on the video.
Story:Hay una niña que se llama Elena. A Elena le gusta jugar en el bosque. Ella tiene 9 años. A ellano le gusta su hermano Martín.
Un día, Elena está en el bosque. Ella camina hacia la casa porque va a comer un sándwich. Pero Elena oye un ruido: iiiiiiiiiiiiii. Ella piensa: ¿Qué es eso?
Ella camina hacia la casa. Ella oye el ruido otra vez: iiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Ella piensa: ¿Es una ardilla?
