MicrosurgeryTraining Course
CourseObjectivesThe purpose of this 2-Day course is toprovide an intensive, structured overviewof the fundamental technical principleswhich comprise loupe and microscopeassisted surgery, in the context of pediatricurology and infertility / andrologysubspecialities. Mentored paired-instructionusing video review and feedback of a varietyof microsurgical domains, short didacticlectures, and wet-lab animal procedures willbe employed.
At the conclusion of the course,participates will:
1. Understand the design & preparationof a microsurgical field for loupe andmicroscope work.2. Become proficient with the ORmicroscope.3. Become familiar with the essentialergonomic principles of microsurgicalinstruments.4. Understand modern principals offlaps and grafts.5. Receive a customized assessment oftheir individual strengths andweaknesses in specific technicaldomains of microsurgery for futurepractice.
All Course activities will take place in the University ofToronto Surgical Skills Center, located at Mt. Sinai
