ELSIN 2013Building Learning Capacity for Life

ELSIN 2013ELSIN 2013 is being hosted by Mid Sweden University in association with Billund kom-mune, LEGO®. Accommodation will be available at Hotel Legoland®.

We are looking for contributions focusing on educational and workplace environments which can be at the individual, group or organisational level in their focus. Individual papers; symposia comprising a minimum of three papers; round tables for discussions on key themes; work shops as well as posters are all welcomed. There will be one cog-nitive styles strand and we are also welcoming papers on educational and/or workplace research/innovations within the fields of learning, teaching, professional development and individual differences.

Capital of ChildrenLEGO® Foundation and Billund Municipality share a vision for ma-king Billund Capital of Children, the children's capital city. Capital of Children will become a global meeting place for children and eve-ryone who has focus on children's play, learning and creativity.

The project is a unique public-private partnership (or PPP) with a unified vision to develop Billund into a very special place for, about and with children. The project shall be beneficial to the town, the mu-nicipality and children all over the world.

About Mid Sweden UniversityMID SWEDEN UNIVERSITY is located in the middle of Sweden, right at the heart of Northern Europe. Conference theme: Building Learning Capacity for LifeThis conference is for anyone interested in their own learning and that of others in schools, higher education and workplace environments. We are specifically interested in innovative approaches to learning and e-learning; leading learning with organizations; approaches to individualizing learning; awareness of motivational and affective dimen-sions of learning; use of learning styles in classrooms and learning through play. The major theme of the conference is thus Building Learning Capacity for Life. ELSIN 2013 especially welcomes submissions that focus on one of the following key issues:

• Innovative approaches to learning • Innovations to support lifelong learning • Building the bridge to learning for life • Playing for Life (learning) • Activating learning throughout life e.g. through play • Awareness of individual differences • Motivational strategies • Good practice: putting style research into practice • Entrepreneurship and styles

This will be a dynamic and interactive conference where you will have numerous opp-ortunities to work with others to share and develop ideas and experience the Building Bridges LEGO® experience. If you have an idea that you would like to discuss with us please contact Lena Boström or Carol Evans.

About ELSINELSIN is an international interdisciplinary association of academics, researchers, trai-ners and practitioners in the fields of education, psychology, business, computer sci-ence, information systems, management, medicine, and other related fields who are interested in the theory and application of cognitive style, learning styles and stra-tegies, in addition to other individual learning differences to enhance the quality of learning environments. ELSIN came into existence in 1996 during the first conference at the University of Birmingham's School of Education, organised as a response to emerging interest in issues relating to individual differences in learning and cognition and their relationship with performance in educational and occupational contexts.
