COURSE OVERVIEWThis conference is designed to utilize a variety of learning formats to provide emergency physicians and other clinicians who practice emergency care with appropriate tools and knowledge for competent clinical practice. Small group discussions will offer learners an opportunity to interact and receive individualized instruction; hands-on training will cover both basic and advanced procedures; and didactic learning whereby presenters will share their expertise, unique skillset and in-sight into specialized areas of Emergency Medicine through a series of lectures.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: • Review emerging trends and leading-edge topics in Emergency Medicine • Discuss national, state and local advocacy efforts in Emergency Medicine• Discuss recommendations for practice improvement in Emergency Medicine• Demonstrate strategies for improved diagnosis and treatment of patients in the ED

CONFERENCE HANDOUTS Conference handouts will be available electronically approximately one week prior to the conference, providing attendees with the option to review, download or print the materials in advance. No printed session handouts will be available on site.

CME ACCREDITATIONThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the Wisconsin Chapter, American College of Emergency Physicians (WACEP). ACEP is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

DESIGNATION The American College of Emergency Physicians designates this live activity for a maximum of 10.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for 10.5 hours of ACEP Category I credit.

EVALUATION & CLAIMING CREDIT At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be instructed to complete an evaluation on which they can claim credit. Attendees who claim credit will receive their certificates within 30 days after completing the program evaluation. TARGET AUDIENCE This activity is designed for emergency physicians, primary care physicians, advanced practice clinicians, residents and medical students.

MAT / WAIVER TRAINING OVERVIEW SESSIONOpioid State Targeted Response Technical Assistance Program: MAT, Waiver Training and the Three-Day Rule - This course will provide attendees with a working knowledge of how to initiate Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for patients with Opioid Use Disorder, and how to safely treat acute opioid withdrawal in the ED. Presenter: Eric Ketcham, MD, MBA, FACEP, FACHE

ANNUAL EMERGENCY MEDICINE RESEARCH FORUM WACEP recognizes the efforts being taken to develop innovative models of care, caring for unique patients, furthering research and contributing to education across our state. In partnership with the Departments of Emergency Medicine at both the University of Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin, WACEP hosts the annual Wisconsin Emergency Medicine Research Forum during its Spring Symposium. Poster session and oral presentation opportunities are available. Inquiries regarding abstract submissions may be directed to [email protected].

The Research Forum is not accredited for continuing medical education. For planning purposes, participants who wish to attend the Research Forum sessions only are required to register. Please see registration form for details.

EMERGENCY ULTRASOUND WORKSHOPTopics covered include basic principles of point of care ultrasound, soft tissue applications, Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST) exam, and tips to incorporate ultrasound into clinical practice. This course will include didactic learning and hands-on practice with live models and novel simulation techniques. Registration is limited to 12 participants to ensure individualized learning. This course requires an additional registration fee of $75.

Conference registration fees include lecture presentations, electronic access to handouts, meals, breaks and access to exhibits. All cancellations/requests for refund must be received by March 4 and will be subject to a $50 cancellation fee.
