I believe that good design is powerful; it has a positive effect on experience, behavior, mood, and health. Since design evokes an emotional and physical response, I believe that it is the role of a designer to ensure that these responses are beneficial to everyone and everything, including the environment. I believe that there is always a way to improve and make things better, that design is never ending, and that designers must be able to change, adapt, and advance to be successful. These beliefs guide all of my design decisions and have contributed to my ultimate goal, which is to be successful in the design industry by developing new, sustainable, and innovative design solutions to enrich the lives of others. After over three years at a top 100 interior design firm, focusing primarily on corporate office design, space planning and tenant development work, I have had the opportunity to manage design projects throughout all phases under the guidance of a team director. As a lead designer, I have been highly involved in budget preparation, work load and time management and direct communication between all associated parties. In addition to this invaluable design experience, I completed an internship with a globally recognized hospitality design firm, have work experience in retail and customer service, participate in volunteer work within the community, and possess an education in both interior design and graphic design. Through these opportunities and advancements in my career, I have worked with a variety of design related software, and I am up to date with the latest versions. I have without a doubt obtained many skills to assist in achieving my goal and hope to continue to prosper. I am currently preparing to take the Interior Design Professionals Exam (IDPX) and plan to obtain my NCIDQ certification in the Spring as I have passed all other sections previously.
