Church family and friends,

Psalm 113 from The Message… I find these words to be a great reminder to each of us as

Hallelujah!

You who serve Yahweh, praise Yahweh! Just to speak his name is praise!

seats them among the honored guests, a place of honor among the brightest and best.

He gives childless couples a family, gives them joy as the parents of children.

We are so excited about what God is going to do on our Student Ministry

Fall Retreat this year (October 14-16)! We’ll be staying at Look Up

Lodge. We’ll have a weekend full of late night games, snacks, ziplines,

waterslides, giant swings of doom (minus the doom), and much, much

more - but most importantly, we’ll be having a weekend to get away from

everything else in our life and focus on the one true God. Please take

some time over the next couple of weeks to pray for us. Please pray that

we will . . .

Have incredible times of worship.

Dive in deeper as we study God’s Word.

Grow closer to Jesus and learn what it truly means to be His disciple.

Get a Kingdom vision for our lives.

See students and adults saved and transformed.

Have good weather and safety.

Be unified and grow closer together as a group.

Have fun and walk away from this weekend forever changed for God’s

glory.

Also, please take some time to pray for each student/leader by name:

Musical Notes

We have much to do in the Senior Adult Choir! We have begun work on a great Christmas musical, “Come, And Adore Him!” In addition, we will be sharing a program of encouragement at White Oak Estates, on Tuesday, October 18th. It’s no wonder we go through so many doughnuts! Join us for rehearsal Tuesday mornings at 10:00. You will be a blessing, even as you will be blessed. Our Children’s Choirs are working hard on a great Christmas musical drama “I Hope Christmas.” We’re getting some excellent help from our adults and youth! Moms & Dads, encourage your children to be a part of this great experience. Rehearsal is Wednesday evening at 6:00. We are learning much more than songs. We’re learning how we fit into the Gospel of Jesus. Pray for your boys and girls as they “grow in grace and knowledge.” The Adult choir is making huge progress in learning Handel’s “Messiah,” and having a pretty good time doing it! We have a lot of work ahead of us. But the Lord is faithful to complete what He has begun in us. Your faithful rehearsal attendance is more important than ever! Remember, 7:10 on Wednesday evening for a time of worship, fellowship and preparation. You will be glad you were a part of the celebration. Notable Guests

The Choir and Orchestra from North Greenville University will present a concert of sacred music in our sanctuary on Sunday evening, October 16th, at 6:00 PM. This promises to be a wonderful evening of music, and a great opportunity to invite friends and family to join us for a time of celebration. Mark your calendar and spread the word. Let’s fill the house for this event! One Final Note

1 Cor. 14:15 What is the outcome then? I shall pray with the spirit and I shall pray with the mind also; I shall sing with the spirit and I shall sing with the mind also. Paul knew the importance of thinking about what you sing. We get emotionally attached to songs. That’s not a bad thing. They can serve to connect us to truth in a powerful way. Just remember, the Bible is our source of theology. Songs that don’t line up with God’s word may have an effect on our feelings, but they should not effect our faith.
