SCRIPT EmotionsBroadcaster: Good Morning everybody, we are alive since FROM BBC Radio Station.

-This day we will start with a new radio program and today, we have a special guest a Psychologist, the doctor Brown. -Hello Mr. Brown! How are you?

Dr. Brown: Hello!! Fine, thanks.

Broadcaster: So, our first program is related with TO emotions and how it THEY affects us psychologically so, we will start receiving your calls and you can tell us what your problems are? And how are affect to you? HOW THEY AFFECT YOU- Ok!!! Here we have our first call!!

-Hello, BBC Program, What is your name?

Linda: Hello, my name is Linda!

Broadcaster: Hello Linda! How are you? Whats your problem? Do you want to share it with us?

Linda: ohh !! Yes. Well, I dont know How to start?

- I want to start saying that I feel sad. Because my boyfriend dont DOESNT love me the way that I love him.Broadcaster: Why do you say that?

Linda: ohh.. Because yesterday I got to know that he has been lying to me.

Broadcaster: ohh.. Why?

Linda: Because, he is married and I didnt know it!!

Broadcaster: ohhh very bad news but how is it possible?

Linda: Well, it began when we met on the IN high school, we used to be very close friends but we never go WENT out. We only used to chat and flirt between us WITH EACH OTHER. But we never had a relationship. After that we had to separate GET SEPARATED because we started the college and we didnt see us EACH OTHER until the last month, when I was dancing in a Pub and he arrived , we got in touch again and we started to go out, you know, to Pubs, to the Cinema, to Restaurants these kind of things. And after a while we started a relationship. He knew to my parents and frequently visited my house. All was perfect until yesterday, I was eating with a friend of mine at the Restaurant and suddenly he entered with another girl at the beginning I thought that girl is WAS her HIS coworker but when I tried to greet him. He started to kiss her. Obviously they didnt see me but I was devasted DEVASTATED, the emotion in this moment was shocking!! I didnt know what to do.!! Finally I decided to go away as possible as ?? I could. At night I decided to face up to him HIM UP, and finally he finished to confess CONFESSING TO me that he was HAS BEEN married with TO ANother girl since two years ago. Can you imagine it?

Broadcaster: ohhh.. Very bad!!

- Ok, doctor Brown what can we recommend to Linda?

Dr. Brown: Well, first of all nice to meet you Linda!!

Linda: Nice to meet too, Mr. Brown!

Dr. Brown: I have to say that the ability to express and control our own emotions is important, but so is our ability to understand, interpret, and respond to the emotions of others. Imagine a world where you couldn't understand when a friend was feeling sad or when a co-worker was angry. Psychologists refer to this ability as emotional intelligence, and some experts even suggest that it can be more important than IQ.And Linda you should to have emotional intelligence which refers to the ability to perceive, control and evaluate your emotions. I have to say that some researchers suggest that emotional intelligence can be learned and strengthened, while others claim it is an inborn.First of all there are four different factors of emotional intelligence: the perception of emotion, the ability TO reason using emotions, the ability to understand emotion and the ability to manage emotions. And Ill give you a tip.

The first step in understanding emotions is to accurately perceive them. In many cases, this might involve understanding nonverbal signals such as body language and facial expressions

The next step involves using emotions to promote thinking and cognitive activity. Emotions help prioritize what we pay attention and react to; we respond emotionally to things that garner our attention.

The emotions that we perceive can carry a wide variety of meanings. If someone is expressing angry emotions, the observer must interpret the cause of their anger and what it might mean. For example, if your boss is acting angry, it might mean that he is dissatisfied with your work; or it could be because he got a speeding ticket on his way to work that morning or that he's been fighting with his wife.

And finally, the ability to manage emotions effectively is a key part of emotional intelligence. Regulating emotions, responding appropriately and responding to the emotions of others are all important aspect of emotional management.

So, I recommend that the next time that you are involved in a similar situation like you described before. You should try to apply these abilities. And dont let that the emotions controlled your life.

Broadcaster: wow, excellent recommendation Doctor!

Linda: ohh.. Ok doctor I will try to apply that. And I hope that I can feel me better.

Mr. Brown: yes of course. It will work the next time Im sure of ABOUT that!!

Broadcaster: Well, We have another call from London. Hi friend! Whats your name? How it is going?

Harry: Hello! My names Harry. I am calling because I have a dilemma, I need help, I feel worried and stressed.

Broadcaster: Sure! Were going to give you a SOME good advice with help of our specialists. Tell us your situation.

Harry: Thank you. My problem is the next: I study medicine, but I discovered that this profession is not for me.

Broadcaster: Why did you think that?

Harry: I have studied medicine since four years ago, I decided to study it because all my family are doctors, I know that was A wrong decision, Ive been thinking to speak ABOUT SPEAKING with y family. I have understood which my happiness must be first.

Dr. Brown: That sounds great! In the life the most important is that you find your job satisfying. Havent you spoken with your family yet?

Harry: I cant speak with them, when I wanted to explain my situation, I felt nervous, my legs startED shaking and my mind was blank and a lump in the throat. How can I solve it?

Dr. Brown: Its very normal that you are experimenting different emotions. We understand that speaking with all the members of your family its complicated, you should speak and explain the situation to the most comprehensive person in your family, If you speak with someone, you will let your hair down.

Harry: I suppose that Im going to speak with my sister, I trust her.

Dr. Brown: Great. You must be very patient with your parents, we are sure that they give YOU their support. Maybe you have TO work in order to pay the new university studies. We recommended you that you TO apply TAKE abilities and skills tests with the purpose of a good selection.

Harry: Thank you so much. I enjoy listening TO your radio programme because in plenty of moments, the people arent able to control emotions, you let us speak about our ordinary days and you look for a solution.

Broadcaster: Its a pleasure, my best wishes, I hope that you speak face to face with your family, they love you. Good-bye!Broadcaster: Well, we dont have enough time for ANother call, the time its over. So, we will wait for you at the next BBC program with the Doctor Brown.
