English teacher: Good afternoon, dear pupils and teachers! We are very glad to see
you at our party. The pupils of the 3-d and 4-th forms have prepared a very
interesting programme for you. They will show their talents in staging,
singing, reciting poems and prove that they really love English. Hope
you’ll have a wonderful time together with our little actors and singers. So
welcome to our party. By the way, what season is it now?
Pupils: (all together) It is winter.
Teacher: Yes, it is winter. So let’s invite our Winter! Let’s call it!
Pupils: W-i-n-t-e-r!!!
(Winter comes on the stage)
Winter: I’m the coldest season of the year. My months are December, January and
February. When I come all the rivers and the lakes are frozen, the ground,
the trees and the houses are covered with deep snow. The sun rises later
and sets earlier than in summer. But when it sends its rays to the earth,
everything sparkles like diamonds. You’ll never see such a wonderful
picture in any other season. Children sledge, ski, play snowballs, hockey,
make snowmen or go for walks in the woods. They are fond of wintertime.
Teacher: Pupils, do you like winter?
Pupils: Yes.
Teacher: Let’s invite pupils of the 3-d form who will recite the poems about
winter.
(The pupils of the 3-d form come on the stage)
P1: Winter, winter, winter!
The snow is falling.
The wind is blowing.
The ground is white.
All day and all night.
P2: Nothing is quite, so
Quiet and clean
As snow that falls in the night
And isn’t it jolly to jump from bed,
And find the whole world white.
P3: Snowflakes fall on trees and walk
Snowflakes as white as chalk
Snowflakes fall into my hand
Snowflakes brighten up our land.
P4: December comes with white snow,
And cold winds begin to blow;
From the cold and starlit sky
Merry snowflakes fly and fly;
They fall softly at night –
All are still, all are white.
Teacher: Children, do you know what popular holidays we celebrate in winter?
Pupils: New Year and Christmas!!!
P5: Exactly at 12 o’clock,
New Year will knock,
We are waiting for him,
We’ll let him in.
P6: The New Year is coming; the party is near
I’m sure looking forward to lots of good cheer.
I’ll be all dressed up in my snazziest best,
To be better this year than the last.
P7: What can be said in New Year rhymes
That’s not been said a thousand times!
The New Year comes, the old year go,
We know we dream, we dream, we know!
P8: My Happy New Year wish for you
Is for your best year yet,
A year where life is peaceful
And what you want, you get.
P9: A year in which you cherish
The past years memories,
And live your life each new day
Full of bright expectations.
P10: There is a song in the wind,
There is a song in the sea,
And the song in the tops of the
Tallest pine trees.
Our class wants to sing a song for you. “Jingle Bells”
(The pupils sing the song “Jingle Bells”. Look HO1)
P11: You know we celebrate Christmas in winter, too.
And I made a Christmas wish for you
For a holiday full of pleasure,
Friends and family all around,
And memories to treasure
I wish you for a Christmas filled
With joyous holiday cheer;
I wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year!
(The pupils sing the song “I wish you a Merry Christmas”. Look HO2)
Winter: Thank you very much for your wishes. I have heard a lot of poems and
songs about winter and New Year. I want to know, do you like interesting
stories and fairy tales?
Pupils: Yes, we like.
Teacher: Sure, our children like interesting stories and fairy tales. And the pupils of
the 4-th form prepare a play for you, Winter, and for our younger pupils.
(Pupils of the 4-th form show the play “The White Snow and the Seven Dwarfs”. Look HO3)
Teacher: Thank you very much. But time flows quickly, and our show is coming to
an end.
Winter: We want to thank all the participants for their wonderful presentations, and
all the teachers for help in organizing such show.
Teacher: We are really happy that the pupils of the 3-d and 4-th forms like English
and speak it so well. And I’m happy to have such talented pupils.
Winter: By the way, do you know what people usually do when they are happy?
Teacher: I guess they sing a song.
Winter: Exactly! So let’s invite the pupils of the 3-d and 4-th forms for the final
song which is called “A Happy Song”
(The pupils sing the song. Look HO4)
Teacher: Our party is over. Thank you for your attention. Good bye!
Winter: Good bye! See you soon!
