The batch-mates of ‘79 were familiar with the name of Zarina Mustufa Shah who joinedas a very shy, remote and reserved person. She was very studious, academic andserious in studies. She opened her eyes in the celebrated family of Syed GhulamMustafa Shah.

He was a gifted person, an extraordinary federal education minister, an excellentteacher, an accomplished scholar, a gifted writer, a tough negotiator and anuncompromising nationalist.

The somber stance of Zareena was witnessed throughout the stay in Dow. In the finalyear it became known the she was affianced to the son of Prof Ali Mohammed Ansari,a celebrity orthopedic surgeon, a consummate teacher and a beaurocrat parexcellence.

Graduation followed a house job in Gynecology and marriage to Dr. Riffat Ansari.She moved to the United States. The identity changed to Dr. Zoreen Shah Ansari. Shewas always cerebral and the reflection was apparent when she interned at theUniversity of Illinois and completed her residency in family practice at MemorialHospital in South Bend, Indiana.

After practicing family medicine for eleven years Zoreen took time out by calling anearly retirement to focus her efforts on her progeny and her ever increasing interest inphilanthropic activities. As a humanitarian, Zoreen has chaired, held board positions,and been an integral part of fundraising campaigns.

She has worked tirelessly to help create the Sonya Ansari Center for Autism, which isnamed after her youngest daughter, Sonya, who was diagnosed with autism at the ageof four. Today, the center is the largest autism center in the United States Midwest andhelps provide support for thousands of children and adults suffering with autism.

Zoreen found time to shift some of her attention back into the Sayed Ghulam MustafaShah Village, in Sindh, and helped create two elementary schools for boys and girls.Efforts are underway to open primary health units on the ancestral lands. As a resultof Zoreen and her husband's charity work, the two were inducted into the South BendHall of Fame for their extensive work as humanitarians in serving the local community.

Furthermore, Zoreen’s participation has been a tremendous influence in the social andpolitical circles of Indiana State, helping a traditionally conservative population tosafeguard Pakistani and Muslim values. Beyond her political and charitable work,Zoreen's greatest joy is derived from her family.

Zoreen's husband, Riffat, is a medical oncologist and the founder of the HoosierOncology Group. He has been extensively published and enjoys an excellentrapport. Zoreen also has three amazing children, Sarah, Adam and Sonya. Sarah andAdam are both practicing attorneys in Chicago, Illinois; while Sonya is currentlyattending a special needs schooling in Lexington, Kentucky.

Zoreen is gratified with the life she has lived and is a staunch believer as a very blessedperson to have been a part of the Alma matter, Dow Medical College.

Dear ShoaibThank you for your efforts to discover yet another star of Dow 79. The name puzzled me and I thought you had made a mistake . I had this unstoppable urge to correct you ,but good job I didn't !Zarina it is so nice to hear about you .
