Welcome to Enrichment Activities! Carrollton Clubs for Spring 2017 will meet for twelve weeks beginning Monday, January 23, through Friday, April 28. Homework Centers will run two weeks longer, through May 12.

Prices are based accordingly, and also account for school holidays that lead to days without activities.

Make up sessions will be held in May for weather related cancellations or instructor absences when a substitute is not available. When rainy day carpool occurs, activities will begin immediately after carpool ends and conclude at their normal time. A make-up session will be offered if rainy day carpool ends at 4:45pm or later.

Fees must be paid in full at sign-up and are non-refundable unless the class is cancelled and not replaced. Families with any LFNO outstanding balances will not be able to register their students for Clubs or Enrichment Activities until the balance is paid through the Business Office.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

All registration (except for exterior providers*) will occur online through the Camp Brain system at lfno.campbrainregistration.com. Parents without computer access should contact the Coordinator of Enrichment for assistance at (504)620–5500 ext. 1773.

There will be two rounds of registration. The first round of registration will be open from Thursday, January 12 at 6:30PM to Saturday, January 14 at 10:00AM. The first round of registration will limit enrollment to one activity and one homework center per child. The second round of registration will be open from Saturday, January 14, at 12:00PM to Wednesday, January 18 at 11:59PM. The second round will open any remaining space to families who wish to enroll students in additional activities or homework centers.

SPECIAL DISCOUNTS

- Families qualifying for FREE LUNCH receive a $186 discount (equivalent to an 80% discount on one activity and one homework center per child).

- Families qualifying for REDUCED LUNCH receive a $116 discount (equivalent to a 50% discount on one activity and one homework center per child).

- Children signed up for unlimited AfterCare receive a $50 discount off enrichment activities and homework centers.

- Discounts cannot be combined. Discount codes will be provided via email to enter during registration.

In order to receive an income-based discount, a Free and Reduced Lunch Form must be received by Monday, January 9. All forms are subject to audit by the State of Louisiana. In order to receive the aftercare discount, students must be signed up for the unlimited AfterCare plan by Wednesday, January 11.

ACADEMICS & EDUCATIONAL GAMES French Homework Center – FR Students will be provided with help and guidance to complete homework assignments in a small group setting.* Instructor: LFNO Teachers /Substitutes

English Homework Center – EN Students will be provided with help and guidance to complete homework assignments in a small group setting.* Instructor: LFNO ELA Teachers / Substitutes Grades: 4 - 6 When: Mondays 4:15-5:15 PM

*Please note that Homework Center is not meant to function as private tutoring.

Chess Club - EN It's never too early to play chess, say the world's best players! In each lesson, students will learn new rules and strategy then put them to practice with their adversary. Instructor: Kendric Perkins (DF*)

Grades: 4 -6 When: Fridays, 4:15-5:15 PM

Journalism Club – FR In Journalism Club, students will develop their speaking, listening and writing skills and have a glimpse into what goes into running a newspaper. Students will write their own articles, working towards being published in the monthly newspaper under the supervision of a French Journalist! Instructor: Julien Chaillou

SPORTS

Spring Season February – May: Tennis

Athletics is managed separately from Enrichment. Please do not enroll your students in enrichment activities or homework centers that conflict with mandatory athletics practice.

MOVEMENT

Yoga Club – EN The class will combine yoga postures and activities which focus on a series of physical poses as well as breathing exercises to calm the mind and promote focus and concentration. The class will teach a series of poses that focus on increased flexibility and balance.

Students will learn a practice of mindfulness through yoga, breathwork, and meditation.

Ms. Karianne completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Yandara, Hawaii, and has practiced Yoga all over the world. She is excited to blend a multitude of Yoga styles while developing flexibility and emphasizing relaxation.

Acrosport Gym Club – FR Feeling inspired after the most recent Olympic games? Acrosports is an acrobatic, aesthetic, and team based activity. Students will incorporate balance and harmony in their movements producing a variety of forms, starting with human pyramids and advancing. If your child is active or wants to be an acrobat this activity is for them!

ARTS & CULTURE

Drama Club - EN In this theater workshop, students will expand their imaginations, creating sets, directing, writing, and acting. Students will prepare a play to be shown at the end of the semester! Please note that this club runs two hours each week.
