Re-TRAC Database• Partners can track

activities and input data all year long

• Re-TRAC is designed to be an interactive tool—not just for end-of-year reporting

• Provides tangible benefit to Partners for improved data management

Re-TRAC Database• Partners can report data for

multiple locations

– Ex: ACME Paper can report activities in their VA, MD, and DC offices

– Need to have at least one location

– Climate Profile report sums the data for all locations

7

Page 8: EPA Data Management Tools Janet Bowen – U.S. EPA Bowen.janet@epa.gov 617-918-1795 April 2, 2012

Re-TRAC Database• Numerous materials

are pre-loaded for reporting– Synchronized with

EPA’s WARM model– Ability to add “Other”

when material is not on the list

8

Re-TRAC Database• Access to Re-TRAC

reports with real-time data

– Re-TRAC offers several valuable reports

– Climate Profile available immediately after EPA reviews annual data

– Historical data comparisons

Individualized Climate Profile• Calculates greenhouse gas emissions reductions

resulting from waste prevention and recycling activities. • Translates these into

real-life equivalents.• Valuable tool for

communicating environmental benefits to management, employees, customers, and other stakeholders.

A voluntary partnership with EPA

ENERGY STAR is…

A strategic approach to energy management

Page 16: EPA Data Management Tools Janet Bowen – U.S. EPA Bowen.janet@epa.gov 617-918-1795 April 2, 2012

Benchmarking is Key to a Successful Energy Program

• Heighten awareness of energy use• Identify billing errors• Assess effectiveness of current operations,

policies, practices• Document environmental stewardship and

demonstrate success• More responsive management through more

informed decision-making

ENERGY STAR

• The Cheapest, Cleanest energy is the energy you do not use

• You can’t manage what you don’t measure

• Every $1 a nonprofit healthcare organization saves on energy is equivalent to $20 in new revenues for hospitals or $10 for medical offices.

Energy Star Portfolio Upgrade!

• During the spring of 2013, EPA will release a complete upgrade for its popular Portfolio Manager tool. This tool, currently in use by more than 40,000 individual accounts to measure, track, assess, and report on the energy and water performance of more than 250,000 commercial buildings, will get the full treatment: a new interface, streamlined functionality, and improved usability.
