Based in Winnipeg MB, EQ3 designs, produces and sells affordable modern furniture.

EQ3’s vertically integrated corporate approach cultivates an environment of collabo-

ration, where ideas are shared and developed across all departments. Starting with our

product development team that works with our in house upholsterers, to our graphic

and visual teams that imagine new ways to showcase our products, right down to our

sales staff that educate our customers – every stage of the process is connected. This

approach ensures that we are able to provide quality products to the end consumer.

Our upholstered pieces are made in Winnipeg which allows for a unique hands-on

approach to the manufacturing and quality control process. Having our upholstery

made in Canada affords us the opportunity to offer entirely customizable upholstered

goods. These made to order items are delivered within four to six weeks.

Canadian production is not always possible for our casegood and accessory items.

In these instances production takes place overseas. Our product development team

works closely with overseas manufacturers to ensure that quality is maintained at every

step. The relationships built between our teams here and overseas are long lasting

and rewarding. Working together we are able to develop innovative new products

and expand our product offering. Our recent partnership with a group of artisans in

India has allowed us to dramatically expand our rug offering to now include a custom

program as well as 40 handmade rugs with different colours and styles to choose from.

Whether made in Canada or overseas EQ3 is committed to maintaining quality crafts-

manship in every product we produce.

facture our noted upholstery collections in house allowing us to offer an extensive

custom upholstery program. With the choice of several leg options and over 100 fab-

rics and leathers available in a diverse selection of colors, textures and grades, we ac-

commodate a variety of customer needs and deliver product within four to six weeks.

At EQ3 we have a strong appreciation for brands that have championed Modern de-

sign for over half a century such as Herman Miller, Vitra and Alessi. Through EQ3+ we

have forged a partnership with these brands, alongside others, that allows us to offer

our customers products that have come to epitomize classic Modern design. These

pieces have been carefully selected to best suit our customer and integrate well with

our eponymous line.

EQ3 showrooms can be found across Canada with one US location in California. Our

newly established flagship, positioned in the heart of Toronto’s Liberty Village, acts

as an incubator for ideas and presents a new concept for displaying and interacting

with our products.

Additional EQ3 presence can be seen through gallery spaces within various fine fur-

niture retailers and department stores across Canada, the United States and abroad.

In October of 2011, the Michaëlle Jean Foundation and EQ3 launched Generation Art, a na-

tional initiative providing Canadian youth a unique platform to raise awareness about social

issues through the arts. Founded in 2009, the Michaëlle Jean Foundation supports young

people who use the arts to better their communities and create a better society.

Canadians aged 15 to 30 were invited to submit artwork reflecting the theme “Imagine... A

Better Community.” Selected submissions will be featured on an exclusive line of EQ3 prod-

ucts, proceeds of which will be reinvested in FMJF youth initiatives. With its emphasis on

fostering corporate social responsibility that empowers youth, Generation Art helps partici-

pants acquire transferable artistic and entrepreneurial skills through mentorship, networking

and workshop opportunities with industrial design professionals from EQ3.

Launching September 2012, the limited edition Generation Art line will be sold in store and

at EQ3.com.

EQ3 offers helpful financing plans to make your purchase more affordable. For purchases

made in store in Canada, we offer two zero percent financing options. Choose from zero

dollars down on a 6 month plan with a minimum $1000 purchase, or select the equal pay-

ment plan on an 18 month contract with minimum $3000 purchase. In the United States,

we offer three plan options based on credit score. You may qualify for zero percent financ-

ing for 6 months, 12 months or 24 months. All plans are subject to credit approval. Other

Financing

Over the past years we have been focused on developing a comprehensive rug pro-

gram to offer our customers. Through our partnership with a team of talented artisans

in India, a nation known for specializing in rug production, we now offer 40 styles of in

stock rugs as well as a custom program.

All our rugs are handmade using a variety of techniques native to the regions of India

in which they are produced. Materials such as viscose, cotton, wool and silk are care-

fully selected to best represent the design intentions of each rug. A broad range of

hand dyed patterns as well as natural options free of dyes and additives are available.

Our teams here and in India work together to develop new and exciting patterns to

add to the in stock program resulting in an evolving selection that reflects current

trends and seasonal inspirations. In stock rugs range in size from 5 x 8 feet to 8 x 10

feet and are available upon purchase.

Our custom program features four distinct styles each available in three colors. These

made to order rugs can accommodate even the most difficult of spaces. Customizable

by the square foot, custom rugs arrive within 12–16 weeks of order.

Care for Upholstered Furniture

maintaining the upholstery appearance

Due to body warmth, moisture and the physical strain applied to upholstered seating, it is normal for the cover material to stretch, sometimes quickly. At EQ3 we use only high quality upholstery materials. Thus stretching and a casual appearance do not represent a quality defect, but are characteristics typical of upholstered furniture. There are steps that can be taken to help maintain the appearance of your upholstery and minimize stretching:

– Avoid sitting in the same spot over and over. No matter how well made, if the same spot is used continuously, this area will stretch and wear more quickly.

– Smooth the cover on the seat and back cushions. It is recommended that seats and backs are smoothed and fluffed to make sure that the interior materials are evenly distributed throughout.

fabric care

The use of any fabric after-treatment products, unless purchased at an EQ3 store, will invalidate this warranty.

It is extremely important to pre-test your cleaning method on a hidden area of the fabric to determine if the colour will bleed or if the fabric will shrink. When in doubt, seek the help of a professional furniture cleaner. Always determine the best method of home cleaning for your furniture. Due to the various ways that furniture can be stained or damaged, and various fabric compositions, there is no guarantee that results will be completely successful. Use the suggested methods at your own discretion. To prevent overall soiling from dust and grime, light brushing is recommended. Use a professional cleaning service when an overall soiled condition has been reached. To obtain the most satisfaction from your furniture, give immediate attention to stains and spots and establish a weekly routine for the vacuuming of all your upholstered furniture. Clean up spills and stains right away – the longer a stain stays on the fabric, the harder it will be to remove.

fabric cleaning codes

Fabric manufacturers recommend regular dusting and vacuuming. Removable cushions should be fluffed regularly. Soiled areas should be cleaned based on the following cleaning code(s) found on your EQ3 product. If cleaning codes are not available, contact the retailer from where you purchased the product.

d Dry Clean Only

w Water Based Cleaner

Spot clean using only the foam from a water-based cleaning agent such as a mild detergent or nonsolvent upholstery shampoo product. Apply foam with a soft brush in a circular motion. Vacuum when dry.

s Solvent Based Cleaner

Spot clean using mild water-free solvent or dry cleaning product. Clean only in a well ventillated room and avoid any product containing Carbon Tetrachloride or other toxic materials.

ws Water/Solvent Based Cleaner

Spot clean with a mild solvent, an upholstery shampoo or the foam from a mild detergent. When using a solvent or dry cleaning product, follow the instructions carefully and clean only in a well ventilated room. Avoid any product that contains Carbon Tetrachloride or any other toxic materials.

leather care

The use of any leather after-treatment products, unless purchased at an EQ3 store, will invalidate this warranty. Regular dusting with a damp, clean cloth is advised. Clean leather often, as frequent and gentle cleaning is easier on leather than less frequent, more aggressive cleaning. Cleaning will remove built-up dirt, skin oils and perspiration.

protected (pigmented) and semi-aniline leathers

Clean with a mild soap and water solution. Use a soap with a neutral pH. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap residue. Do not use a soap product that is harsh on your skin, as it will be harsh on the leather. Always test the soap solution on an unseen area of the sofa to ensure that the solution does not damage the leather (no color transfer on to your cloth).

natural aniline leathers

Clean with only a lightly damp cloth. Do not use any type of soap on natural aniline leathers.

Upholstered Furniture Warranty

For extra peace of mind above and beyond our normal warranty, EQ3 offers protection plans for our upholstery, casegood and mattress products. Please visit one of our stores for more details.

cover material

The use of any leather or fabric after-treatment products, unless purchased at an EQ3 store, will invalidate this warranty. The EQ3 warranty does not cover any damages due to improper use, excessive soiling, improper or unapproved cleaning methods (for details see Care for Upholstered Furniture), chemical treatments, exposure to direct sunlight or colour fading. These instances will void the warranty.

leather – two (2 ) years

EQ3 leather products are warranted against tearing, splitting and cracking under normal care and conditions for a period of two years. Leather is a natural material and accordingly, each individual hide reflects its own characteristics. On average four to five hides are used on most EQ3 sofas and as a result, variation will occur. Shading variations, nicks, scratches and wrinkles are characteristics of leather and are not considered defects.

fabric and vinyl – one (1) year

The EQ3 Warranty covers against pilling, fraying and dye transfers from the product for one year. The EQ3 Warranty does not cover tearing, shrinking or loosening of the fabric due to wear. Flattening of the nap on microfibre is an inherent characteristic of soft plush fabric, and is in no way considered a manufacturer’s defect.

frames and springs – lifetime warranty on parts

Wood frames and springs carry a lifetime warranty against breakage. Springs are covered for breakage due to metal fatigue or pulling loose from wood frames. The term “lifetime” as it is used in this warranty is defined as twenty-five (25) years.

reclining chairs, sofa bed mechanisms and sofa bed mattresses two (2 ) year warranty on parts

Reclining chairs, sofa bed mechanisms and sofa bed mattresses are warranted against material and manufacturing defects for two years.

seat cushion foam and fibre-filled components – two (2) years

Seat cushions are warranted against collapsing. All cushions will soften with use and will conform to the shape of the user. This softening is considered normal wear and is in no way considered a manufacturer’s defect. Fibre-filled seat cushion tops, backs and arms will flatten with regular use. This is inherent to the design of fibre-filled and fibre wrapped products. Regular fluffing will prevent internal fibres from matting and will help to prolong the vibrancy of these products.

Cautions for Upholstered Furniture

Do not move furniture in your home without carefully wrapping the furniture, including the corners, feet and bottom of the furniture, with a protective covering. This will help avoid damage to the floors and/or wall surfaces, as well as prevent damage to the furniture itself.

Do not move furniture on bare hardwood floors. At all times, place furniture on a protective area rug or on protective hardwood felt pads. This will protect your hardwood floors from potential scratches.

Do not expose leather or fabric to ink, bleach, oily substances, fluids, body oils, strong detergents (including laundry detergents), chemicals and sharp objects as this may cause potential damage.

Do not expose leather or fabric to sun or extreme light sources as this will cause fading and potential damage.

Do not remove cushion covers for dry cleaning or separate washing.

Do not allow children to play on mechanized furniture or operate mechanisms. Before operating, ensure leg rests and other moving parts are clear of limbs and other obstructions. Always leave seating closed and in an upright position when not in use.

Do not stand on chairs.

Do not sit on product arms.

Failure to follow these directions can result in injury and/or damage.

Cautions for Casegoods


Wipe liquids or spills from furniture immediately.

Avoid contact with sharp objects (including writing without a desk pad). Use plastic placemats or rubber foot protectors on items such as radios, computers, telephones and accessories.

Exposure of furniture to direct sunlight, extreme sources of heat or candle wax may damage or fade colour.

Please refer to safety warning labels on all products and follow all instructions.

Care should be taken when moving furniture within your home. Carefully wrap the furniture, including the corners, feet and bottom of the furniture, with a protective covering. This will help avoid damage to floors and/or wall surfaces, as well as help to prevent damage to the furniture itself.

Do not move furniture on bare hardwood floors. At all times, place furniture on a protective area rug or on protective hardwood felt pads. This will protect your hardwood floors from potential scratches.

Do not allow children to climb, play, step on or lean against open drawers or shelves.

Do not open more than one drawer at a time.

Do not remove the manufacturing labels from product.

Always use tip protection hardware when provided.

Failure to follow these directions can result in injury and/or damage.

Casegood Furniture Warranty


EQ3 offers a full one (1) year warranty against defects in material and workmanship on casegood products. Warranties are subject to normal household use from date of purchase. The use of any after-treatment products, unless purchased at an EQ3 store, will invalidate this warranty. When making a claim under this warranty, the holder should contact the retailer from whom the purchase was made. Transportation to and from the retailer is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Some materials such as wood, veneer and other natural materials, have natural variations which are characteristic of the product. Natural materials are subject to colour changes due to environment or sunlight. These normal variations are not covered under our warranty.

Warranty Notes

The term “defect”, as it is used in this warranty, is defined as a flaw or deficiency that may affect the use for which the product is intended. Only the original purchaser holds the right to a valid warranty. This warranty is valid only if the purchase is made from an authorized EQ3 retailer. For inquiries about an EQ3 product, concerns with an EQ3 product or when making a claim under this warranty, please contact the retailer from whom the purchase was originally made. Transportation to and from the retailer is the responsibility of the purchaser. Always keep your receipt as proof of purchase. The original receipt is required for any warranty claim. When making a claim under this warranty, proof of purchase with the original bill of sale and the product serial number are required. In addition, EQ3 requires photo verification of the defect or quality concern. Should any of these not be available, EQ3 reserves the right to deny the claim.

Warranty conditions are subject to change without notice.

In no event shall the responsibility of EQ3 exceed the purchase price of the product or replacement.

This warranty applies only to standard household use conditions and does not cover defects or damage caused by the following circumstances:

– Retail, business, commercial, institutional or other non-residential uses.– Products purchased “as is” or second-hand.– Products purchased from distressed or liquidation sales.– Products deemed to have been misused, mishandled, altered or abused.– Any condition resulting from unusual usage.– Inadequate maintenance, cleaning or care that does not comply with instructions.– Deliberate damage.– Personal Alterations.– Accidents– Any damage caused by animals.– Direct exposure to sun and heat.

Some of our seating styles are designed with a single cushion seat, we call this a

bench seat. With bench seating, the cushion’s fabric or leather tends to relax

more quickly. The longer the bench seat cushion, the greater the tendency is for

the fabric or leather to relax.

Our fabrics should age gracefully. Before we add a new fabric to our collection we submit

it to a number of rigorous tests:
