Welcome

BACKGROUND AND MOTIVATION

The ESPCG mission is increasing knowledge and best practice from a primary care perspective in gastrointestinal disorders around Europe. Management of liver disease is an increasing challenge for primary care doctors.

Different disorders such as infectious hepatitis, alcoholic and non-alcoholic liver disease are a focus for the society to ensure adequate management in different European scenarios.

Immigration among European countries is also a recent and relevant factor adding to the need for wider hepatic knowledge.

Romania and The Romanian National Society of Family Medicine represent an ideal opportunity for the ESPCG 2020 Spring Meeting supported by UEG. Two obvious reasons spring to mind. Firstly, for its initial involvement as a new member country represented in ESPCG and secondly for its potential need to have this liver programme for their GPs.

Participation from other doctors representing neighbouring countries is welcome

Collaboration from the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) and from the Romanian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology are important elements for the success of the event especially as we will be promoting the shared care approach from the specialist side. Local Romanian GPs Association involvement also represents a key sharing experience from an ESPCG perspective.

PARTICIPANTS

General Practitioners, mainly from Romania. Also potential participation of other GPs from nearby countries will be encouraged and promoted. Between 50 and 100 attendees are expected.

A system of signatures before and after accessing to the sessions will monitor the participation to the meeting.

PROGRAMME

Topics related to the management of liver problems will be presented from a panel of expert speakers. Case scenarios from practical practice situations will make participation possible to encourage interaction during the meeting.

ACCREDITATION

An application to the UEMS EACCME has been made for the accreditation of the event
