A warm welcome to the European Outdoor Summit (EOS) 2015!

This is the third Summit since we launched the concept in Stockholm and since that time, the EOS has become a key fixture in the outdoor calendar for professionals who believe in growing their knowledge, their networks and their understanding of what makes our sector tick.

Sheffield is a great city in which to hold this year’s event, with an amazing history and a real determination to make sports and outdoor activities central in the lives of those who live there. Their enthusiasm for this event was amazing and I hope you will get to find out more about the policies they promote.

Our hosting partner for this year is the UK Outdoor Industries Association and they have worked tirelessly to bring you a pretty packed programme and to stage an event that showcases the outdoor industry in the UK.

And finally to you! You are the reason we have the EOS and your contribution is what turns it from a sit and listen event, to a dynamic and exciting place to be. So our thanks, our best wishes and we look forward to meeting you all.

With best wishes, John Jansen President, European Outdoor Group.

It is our pleasure on behalf of the Outdoor Industries Association to welcome you to the 2015 European Outdoor Summit and to the host city of Sheffield!

This year’s Summit has received a huge amount of support from many leading brands, retailers and service providers from the outdoor industry and we greatly appreciate the support of our sponsors. We have worked hard to offer you a line-up of motivational speakers and key industry personalities and bring you a series of informative workshops and superb outdoor activities designed to inspire and engage - all this right on the doorstep of the beautiful Peak District National Park.

The aim of each Summit is to offer the industry the opportunity to come together to learn, share and exchange ideas and promote the progress and continuing success of the industry and I hope you agree that our programme of speakers, seminars and workshops provides the perfect catalyst for this.

The ‘where’ is just as important as the ‘what’ and we think Sheffield offers the perfect location for this year’s EOS. As the ‘Outdoor Capital City of the UK’ and with its fabulous range of conference, hotel and outdoor sporting facilities, Sheffield couldn’t be a more perfect fit to host the Summit.

The European Outdoor Summit 2015 would not be possible without the help of our many sponsors and partners and we would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to them. Without their continued support we would not be able to offer you, what we hope is, a truly inspirational event.

We wish you a wonderful EOS 2015!

11.35 - 12.35 How to Conquer the Heart of Sporty Women Ulrike Luckmann, Journalist and Researcher, Luckmann PR Location: City Hall - South Hall

Are you sure you know enough about the target group outdoor women? Who is really included and how is the mind set of women doing outdoor sports?

Derived from 3,200 cases (survey with Intersport), Ulrike Luckmann presents a unique typology of six types of sports women. Women are doing sports with a different motivation and with a different focus than men do. The trade has not yet taken this in, and this is one reason why women have no favourite sport shops, no emotional relation to sport stores and basically only buy products when they need them. They do not include sport store in their “loved shopping behaviour” as we all know women do as often as possible spending a huge amount of money. Why not? What does it need to win the hearts of “sporty women?
