The fol- lowing decisions were made at the meeting: EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2004 The 2nd EUC Karate 2004, which will take place in Belgrade / SCG, was post- poned to December 15th - 18th , 2004. EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2005 The EUSA Executive Committee decided to attribute the organisation of the 2nd EUC in Futsal 2005 to Italian Uni- versity Sports Federation (CUSI). The Championship will take place in Latina from July 17th – 24th, 2005. The EC also fixed the dates and venues of the EUC´s in 2005: - EUC Beach-Volleyball - Koper (Ankaran) / SLO June 23rd – June 26th, 2005 - EUC Basketball - Gorzow Wlkp. / POL June 28th – July 02nd, 2005 - EUC Karate - Wroclaw / POL June 29th – July 2nd, 2005 - EUC Volleyball - Tallinn / EST June 30th – July 04th, 2005 - EUC Futsal - Latina / ITA July 17th – July 24th, 2005 BIDS 2005 The EC will attribute the EUC´s in Football, Tennis and Badminton on its next meeting in December. Countries are asked to send the bids for those events as well as for the Symposium 2005 to EUSA office until November 15th, 2004. NEW SPORTS The EC also decided to add Rowing to the programme of the EUC´s 2005. The decision on the first organiser will be made at the next EC meeting in December. CHANGES OF THE REGULATIONS The EUSA EC Committee agreed to change a part of the regulations, which now allows the competitors in EUSA championships are also former students of the institutions who have obtained their academic degrees or diplomas in the previous academic year (before: 6 months preceding the event). EUSA LOGO The EUSA EC decided also to accept the prposal to slightly change the EUSA logo. Thus the EC decided to make the logo stars clearer by removing the shadows around them. BELGRADE 2004

EUSA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING University Sports Federation

of Serbia and Montenegro

EUSA GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2004The next EUSA General Assembly will be held from Decem-

ber 3rd - 5th, 2004 in Nottingham / GBR, Nottingham Uni-

versity. Member federations were requested to send their

proposals before October 20th, 2004. The tentative time

schedule is as follows:02.12.2004 EC meeting and Arrival of the Delegations

03.12.2004 Seminar

04.12.2004 General Assembly

05.12.2004 Departure

The participants will be accomodated in the Moat House

Hotel, Mansfield Road, Nottingham. The British University

Sports Association will cover the cost for two sigle rooms

per country and meals for up to 2 delegates per country.

The charge for additional rooms/persons will be 80€ per

room/night. The deadline for reservations is October 20th,

2004.

FISU MEETINGEUSA will take part at the FISU strategic

review meeting on 29-31 October, 2005 in

Brussels, to which all the continental univer-

sity sports associations are invited.

UNIVERSIADEThe preparations for the XXII.

Winter Universiade 2005 Innsbruck – Seefeld are in full

swing. The Heads of delegaton meeting was held in

Innsbruck in the beginning of Octobre, where the repre-

sentatives from 21 countries (15 European) were present.

Altogether 33 countries from Europe sent their intention to

participate at the Universiade.

The representatives of the Winter Universiade Organising

Committee will also be present and available for all ques-

tions at EUSA General Assembly in Nottingham.

bers: mr. sc. Jelka Gosnik; Jadranka Protic, prof.; Alen

Bjelica; Ante Karanusic; Haris Pavletic. The postal code

number has changed from HR-10000 to HR-10137, and

the University of Karlovac became a new member of the

CUSF.

1st EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP 45 competitors from 9 European countries took part at

the first European University Badminton Championship,

which was organised in Krakow / POL from September

23rd – 27th, 2004.

Teams started arriving

from 21st to 23rd Sep-

tember, and checks on

student ID and issue of

accreditation cards was

carried out at the HoDs’

meeting at 20.00 on 23rd

September until the start

of play at 10.00 on 24th

September. The outline

playing and draw sched-

ules were issued, including the fact that both team and

individual events would, on this occasion, be conducted

as knock-out events. The playing schedule was restricted

to one day for the team event, and one and a half days for

the individual event.

The Opening Ceremony was held at 16.00 on 24th Sep-

tember, part way through the first day’s play. It was well

organised, with teams parading with their country name

and flag, EUSA anthem and flag raising, welcome speech-

es by the OC, by the President of Krakow AZS, Prof Jan

Kusinski, and by the EUSA delegate, Alison Odell.

The team and individual competitions were played in the

Bronowianka Sports Hall which had 5 special badminton

carpet courts laid for the events. The lighting and sur-

roundings were excellent for playing badminton. Within the

sports complex there was a gymnasium fitness suite, 15m

swimming pool and a sauna.

The following teams were represented at the Champion-

ships: University of Ljubljana (SLO), University of Mainz

(GER), AZS Krakow (POL), University of Warszaw (POL),

University of Geneva (SUI), University of Olsztyn (POL),

University College Dublin (IRE), composed teams from

Estonia and Portugal (POR).

EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY CHAMPIONSHIPS

FACTS:

The 5th EUC in Volleyball will be organised by the Estonian

Academic Sports Federation together with the Audentes

University.

GENERAL

Estonia has 1.439.000 in-

habitants. It lies on the area

of 45 227 sq km with Tallinn

as the Capital City. Estonia

has parliamentary democ-

racy with a president as the

head of state. Estonia is in

the Eastern European Time

Zone: GMT + 2 hours. Currency: Estonian Kroon (EEK) 1

kroon = 100 sents, 1 EUR = 15,65 EEK.Estonia’s official

language is Estonian. Russian, Finnish, English and Ger-

man are also understood and widely spoken.

TRAVELLING TO ESTONIA

There are 17 direct flights to Tallinn Airport (Frankfurt, Hel-

sinki, Vilnius, London, Prague, Warsaw, Hamburg, Kiev…),

which is located just 4km from the City centre.

FACTS ABOUT TALLINN

Tallinn is located in Northern Europe, in the NE part of the

Baltic Sea region. The climate in Tallinn is characterized by

a fairly cold winter, a cool spring with little precipitation, a

moderately warm summer and a long autumn. Tallinn has

395 000 inhabitants.

VISAS

Visitors arriving in Estonia must have valid national pass-

ports. Citizens of many countries don´t need a visa for en-

tering Estonia. To check the visa status of your country,

check the website www.vm.ee/eng.

VENUES

Championships will be held in the Audentes University

sports centre and Kalev Sports Hall. The participants will

will be accommodated in Hotel Dzingel. Double and triple

rooms will be available for the players.Transport from the

airport will be organised by the organisers. Sports hall will

be within walking distance from the hotel. Public transport

and additional official vehicles will be provided if needed.

There will be several parties and cultural events in the eve-

nings.
