OVERVIEW

Wonderware’s InTouch 9.0 visualisation softwareis a powerful graphical human-machine interface(HMI) for industrial automation, process controland supervisory monitoring. The InTouch HMIenables users to visualise and control industrialprocesses while providing engineers with an easy-to-use development environment and extensivefunctionality to rapidly create, test and deploypowerful automation applications that connectand deliver realtime information. InTouchsoftware is an open and extensible HMI thatenables flexibility in custom application designwith connectivity to the broadest set ofautomation devices in the industry.

Graphical User Interface (GUI)The InTouch HMI alsoempowers users toquickly and easily developcustom graphical views oftheir processes. A usercan develop graphics witha variety of tools inWonderware’sWindowMaker™graphical editing program,which includes standardgraphical components,bitmap images, ActiveX®

controls and Symbol Factory – an advanced graphics library that containsthousands of preconfigured industrial images and SmartSymbols. All ofthese tools are easy – to use and intuitive, helping users to quicklydevelop and deploy visualisation applications.

UNRIVALED CONNECTIVITY

InTouch software can connect to virtually anyindustrial automation control device because ofthe hundreds of available I/O and OPC serversthat are designed to connect to Wonderwareproducts. The list of available servers is longerthan that of any other HMI product on themarket. This is made possible by Wonderware’sdevice integration team as well as hundreds ofthird-party product developers that offerconnectivity to Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider andother products. Wonderware servers provideaccess to InTouch application data throughMicrosoft DDE communications, Wonderware’sSuiteLink™ protocol or OPC technology. Third-party developers can use the ArchestrA DAS(data access server) Toolkit to create servers thatincorporate one or all of the communicationmethods listed above. The InTouch HMI, as wellas Wonderware’s other FactorySuite A2™products, are capable of serving as an OPCclients or OPC server.

When customers purchase the industry’s leadingHMI, they also receive worldwide applicationsupport. Wonderware has installed more than200,000 InTouch HMIs worldwide and has a trackrecord for protecting customers’ applicationengineering investments by automaticallymigrating their applications to new versions ofInTouch software.

Powerful QuickScript EditorWith the QuickScriptEditor, an InTouchapplication an beextended andcustomised to addressspecific systemrequirements, makingInTouch software one ofthe most flexible HMIproducts on the market.Scripts can beconfigured to executebased on numerousparameters, such asspecific process

conditions, data changes, application events, window events, keyboardstrokes, ActiveX events and more. The QuickScript environment alsosupports QuickFunctions, which allow users to develop a library of scriptsthat can be re-used, simplifying the application and resulting in decreasedinitial engineering and application maintenance time and simplifiedapplication deployment.

Standard Library TemplatesSmartSymbols enableobject-oriented graphicsso that users can createstandardised libraries ofobjects that contain allthe graphics, scripts andtag controls that anapplication object needsto be useful. Anygraphic in an InTouchwindow can beconverted into aSmartSymbol by right-

clicking on it. In addition, libraries of SmartSymbols can be exported toother applications and plants, enabling companies to standardise ongraphics throughout the entire organisation.

iTools is a versatile suite of software tools toallow configuration and monitoring of allEurotherm 2000 and 3000 Series Controllersand the T630 Process Controller. It alsoprovides runtime monitoring of the 5000Series graphical recording and datamanagement units. It is capable of editing,storing and ‘cloning’ complete controllerconfigurations as well as setting up datalogging, process monitoring and Ethernetand modem connections.

Configuring Eurotherm controllers has never been easier with theGraphical Wiring Editor within iTools. This intuitive tool allows the userto configure the latest Eurotherm controller, the 3500, using a simpledrag and drop graphical interface. iTools includes pre-configuredfunction blocks combined with the Graphical Wiring Editor, the usercan develop advanced control applications in minutes.

The Setpoint Program Editor within iTools provides a simple methodof configuring setpoint profiles and programmable event outputs.Programs can be edited live - online with the controller, or offline -for download after editing or storage of the profile. Storage of profilesis limited only by the amount of disk space available at the PC.

Eurotherm can now provide a low-cost HMI system that can display all of Eurotherm’s products. We meet thisrequirement by linking Wonderware’s world leading InTouch HMI with Eurotherm’s iTools and EuroMBus technologyto provide a solution that is very cost-effective

T555 Eurotherm Project Studio now includes the Eurotherm Process Viewer as a option. This package providesWonderware inTouch as a true graphical front end to the Eurotherm iTools Modbus OPC Server providing standardand easy to configure displays for all Eurotherm products supporting Modbus communications.

WonderwareOPCLink

The Wonderware OPCLink is a MicrosoftWindows application program that acts as acommunications protocol converter. Thisallows other Windows application programsaccess to data from local or remote OPCservers. OPCLink detects automatically whichOPC data access version is implemented inOPC servers (up to version 2.04) and usesthe latest version available. OPCLink connectsto OPC servers, converts client commands toOPC protocol and transfers data back toclients using DDE, FastDDE, or SuiteLink.

OPC Servers

LINopc

Provides connectivity between an OPC clientand the LIN Control networks. LINopcsupports Ethernet, Arcnet and serial. ModbusRTU and TCP protocols are available. It hasits own inbuilt security system based on theOperating System security. It can also run asimulation LIN database.

EuroMBus

Provides connectivity between an OPC clientand the Modbus Control networks.EuroMBus supports Modbus TCP on Ethernetand Modbus RTU serial. It provides dataconnections to Eurotherm controller ActiveXfaceplates.

Continuous strategies are configured graphically using ‘blockstructured’ technologies provided by the Eurotherm ALINDatabase Editor which supports a comprehensive library offunction blocks.

Sequences are configured graphically using Sequential FunctionCharts (SFCs) following the IEC1131-3 standards. Steps initiateActions which may be Structured Text statements (ST), or nestedSFCs, transitions determine when control passes from one step toanother.

The on-line monitor facility of LINtools enables users to viewand interact with control and sequence strategies running inremote ALIN instruments. With the database monitor and thenecessary security clearance, remote ALIN instrument databasescan be accessed and blocks can be modified on screen. Thedatabase monitor allows a combination of blocks from multiplenodes to be observed simultaneously.

LIN tools are a comprehensive set of configuration, test,documentation ad commissioning tools for the ALINinstruments. LINtools includes graphical configuration forcontinuous and sequencing control. The on-line monitoringfacility allows users to observe databases and SFCs forcommissioning and fault finding purposes.
