STUDENTS’ COUNCIL REPORT - 2018-2019 In June 2018, Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science opened for the academic year 2018-2019. CRs and ACRs of all the classes of degree college were elected. They further became the members of the student council for the year 2018-2019. Thereafter, on the 25 th July 2018, the Executive council was elected from the students’ council members. Names of the Executive council members are as follows: Shaikh Zoha Vaqar (General Secretary), AafiyaChorwadwala (Assistant General Secretary), Anuradha Khole (Treasurer), Greeshma Mulakatte (Assistant Treasurer), Pallavi Koli (Principal Nominated Executive Council), Binal Dedhia (IQAC representative), Hinal Saiya (Interfaith Committee representative), Kraney Shah (Cultural Secretary), Priyanka Dedia (Sports representative), Naushin Shaikh (WDC representative), Mayuri Nimbre(NSS representative) along with four students council teachers Dr. Kamini Rege, Dr. Sunita Jaiswal, Mrs.Vrinda Udiaver and Ms.Fatima Kader. Events in the month of July 2018: In the month of July, Students’ Council and Executive Council elections took place. The elections were held on 25 th July, 2018. The General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary were appointed by the members of Students’ Council to carry out and manage all the students’ council activities effectively. The Treasurer and the Assistant Treasurer were also appointed for managing the financial matters of the upcoming events of this academic year. Also the Executive Council was formed on that day. Events in the month of August 2018: In the month of August multiple events were organised. The first activity was the Breast Feeding week. The program was organised in collaboration with the Food, Nutrition and Dietetics Department of Home Science on the 7 th of August 2018. The aim of this programme was to create awareness and convey the benefits of breastfeeding for the mothers. . On 14 th August 2018, Independence Day was celebrated in College Hall. The speaker for the event was Dr. Anuradha Bakshi (HOD, Human Development Department). The event was accompanied by patriotic songs and dance performances by the students. Members of the Executive council were introduced to the students and ended with National Anthem.

Events in the month of September 2018:

Teacher’s Day celebration was organised by the Students’ Council on 5th September 2018. It was a small event with the theme “RETRO” inviting the teachers of the Degree college and Junior college. The program commenced at 10:15am with lightning of the lamp. The teachers danced on various bollywood songs and quiz for which prizes were given. There were Dance and signing performances by the students. A short video was shown in which every class wishes Happy Teachers Day as a way to show love and affection towards our beloved teachers. The program ended at 11:00am with great joy and happiness.

Events in the month of December 2018:

The Students’ Council organized a Freshers’ Party “Neophytes 2018” for the first year students on 1st December 2018 in College Hall. The program began at 1:30pm with introduction followed by the quiz. Spot prizes were given and treasure hunt was organized which created enthusiasm in all the students. A thank you speech was delivered and snacks were also served to the students.

On the occasion of Christmas, a hearty contribution by the students and teaching staff of Junior College, Degree College and Polytechnic Department was collected. Total amount of Rs 30,093/- was contributed by the students of Nirmala Niketan College. The contribution was given to all the Support Staff members during the Christmas party on 21st December 2018 as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

Events in the month of January 2019:

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Foundress of our College, the students performed a short skit on “The Journey Of Marie Adelaide De Cice” on 15th January 2019 in college hall. The program commenced at 5:00pm by unfolding a portrait by the Guest of Honor followed by skit performance shown to the members of the Management, the teaching and non-teaching staff and students of College Of Home Science Nirmala Niketan. It was a wonderful program which ended with an inspiring message to the audience and distribution of refreshments and a picture of Marie Adelaide De Cice.
