Welcome to Partners Speak! We are delighted to bring back to you this edition of partners speak after a gap of some months. Following registration as a Society PTCC has been putting it’s team together and we have been working on important improvements and new features to our knowledge sharing platform. This is an opportunity to share our own experiences of effective collaboration to fight TB, as well as gain insight from our colleagues around the world. In this section we provide a snapshot of PTCC activities, a mix of partner news across India, observance of World TB Day, case study and highlights from success stories from the field. We have included a new section “Tear it out” to educate the community about the infection control and the spread of TB. Our aim is to promote awareness about tuberculosis, including the importance of getting tested, TB facts, myths, cough hygiene, freedom from TB, about DOTS and many more. Join the partnership, spread TB awareness, link up with the National TB Programme, share experiences and good practice. Get involved to make a difference! We hope you enjoy reading and look forward to your active contribution to our future success. Dr. S.N. Misra, Chair Partnership for TB Care and Control FROM OUR DESK www.tbpartnershipindia.org

Few words from the Chairman of PTCC Dr. S.N.Misra

The Partnership, now formally registered as a society, brings together over 170 member organisations on a common platform, to support and strengthen India’s efforts to control tuberculosis (TB). The Partnership includes various organisations, all dedicated to the fight against TB with each member organisation bringing specific expertise to the table, in a range of technical and programmatic areas to empower individuals and communities affected by TB. In the years since its inception, the Partnership has been a hub for disseminating information, creating visibility for India’s national TB program, responding to TB related challenges and providing support to various stakeholders. For those of us who have witnessed the growth of the Partnership, the formal registration of the Partnership has been a proud and privilege moment for all of us and we hope the miles ahead of us will be less daunting, as 170+ institutions will now work together for a common cause of eliminating Tuberculosis.

The Partnership for TB Care and Control is proud to announce its registered avatar from June 2013. The hard work of all of its partners in contributing to the Memorandum of Association and Constitution of the society has paid off and a proud moment for all its members as the registration was received by the Governing Body. Kudos to its members with special mention of the Governing Body, the CEO Dr. Darivianca E. Laloo & Ms. Meenu Sharma from Secretariat and the lawyer Mr. Sharad Kumar (CII) who made this happen.

In this edition we focused case studies and success stories on the dread of drug resistant TB and how civil society members have helped MDR-TB patients and the communities.

We share a joint advocacy effort on civil society demanding transparency and uninterrupted supply of TB medicines.

We hope you enjoy reading and look forward to your active contribution in the future.

Happy reading…
