Guest speaker biographies

Dr David Lee BSc PhD CertEd CPsychol AFBPsS

CSci. Clinical Director, Sleep Unlimited Ltd.

Originally a Human Biologist, but then conducted a PhD in

Sleep Psychology at Loughborough University's

internationally renowned Sleep Research Centre

examining sleep and associated quality of life in

vulnerable, clinical groups. Since then he has held

academic posts at Bradford and Newcastle Universities,

lecturing in Psychobehavioural Treatments for Insomnia

and holds a certificate in higher education practice.

He has trained in the delivery of Cognitive Behavioural

Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) and Good Clinical Practice,

was registered as Newcastle University's Sleep Expert; has

made several appearances on local and national radio; and

presented as 'Dr Sleep' at recent Newcastle ScienceFest

events in 2010 and 2011. He has delivered training and

teaching workshops / seminars to a range of healthcare

professionals including: Psychiatrists, Psychologists, GPs,

Nurses, Midwives, Counsellors,

Psychotherapists, Physiotherapists, Osteopaths,

Occupational Therapists, etc.

He provides consultation to companies and individuals

relating to sleep and has provided expert witness

testimony to the court. Findings from his own research

have been published in international, peer-reviewed

journals. He is author of the recently published “Teaching

the World to Sleep.” 2017. Routledge, London.

Eoin Whelan BBS, MBS, PhD

Eoin is a Lecturer in Business Information Systems at the

National University of Ireland, Galway. He is also a visiting

professor at the Institute d’Economie Scientifique et de

Gestion (IESEG), France. He received his PhD from NUI

Galway in 2010. His current research interests focus upon

understanding how modern technologies influence worker

stress, decision making, productivity, creativity, and work-

life conflict. His publications have appeared in MIT Sloan

Management Review, Information Systems Journal, R&D

Management, Journal of Information Technology, and

Information & Organization. The findings of his research

have also been featured in mainstream international

outlets such as Forbes, Financial Times, Fortune, Reuters,

Irish Independent, and the Irish Times. He is a Senior

Editor of Information & Organization, and Information

Technology & People. Prior to becoming an academic, Eoin

held a variety of business analyst positions in Ireland, New

Zealand, and the US.

Colin Rooney, Arthur Cox

Colin is a Partner in the Technology Group of Arthur Cox.

Colin advises on data privacy, freedom of information,

social media, information technology and e-business

matters.

Colin’s practice has a strong emphasis on information

management issues, ranging from cross-jurisdictional data

sharing projects to digital marketing to online regulation

and related matters.

Colin also regularly advises in relation to various aspects of

technology law (for example regarding cloud computing,

software licensing, social media and e-commerce) and on

commercial intellectual property matters (for example

regarding licensing and migration of valuable intellectual

property).

Colin is a frequent speaker and author on data privacy

topics.

Colin is a Certified Information Privacy Professional

(Europe) (CIPP/E) and a Certified Information Privacy

Manager (CIPM).

Paul O’Grady is Commercial and Wellness Director with Medmark

Paul has 25 years’ management experience working as

both COO and CEO across a variety of areas including

management consultancy, outsourced services, legal

services and most recently in health and wellbeing.

Paul has led initiatives in organisations that resulted in the

awarding of the Deloitte Best Managed Company, winning

the overall Q Mark National Quality & Excellence Award

and achieving ISO accreditation. Paul played a leading role

in Medmark’s preparation for GDPR and continues to work

with Medmark clients in relation to GDPR issues. In

addition to his Commercial Director role Paul also heads

up Medmark’s Wellness Services.

Dr Deirdre Gleeson Specialist in Occupational Medicine 2018 Dr Deirdre Gleeson graduated in 1992 from Trinity College,

Dublin and completed vocational training in General

Practice in 1996.Dr Gleeson completed the specialist

registrar-training program with The Faculty of

Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians

in Ireland in 2004 and is now a Fellow of the Faculty.

In 2005, Dr Gleeson founded Medwise Occupational

Health Services, which has clinics in Dublin, Limerick and

Naas and a mobile occupational health surveillance unit:

Medwise Mobile Medicals. Medwise is accredited with

SEQOHS: Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health

Service.

Dr Gleeson has a special interest in occupational injury

case management, sickness absence assessment and all

aspects of fitness for work.

Dr Gleeson set up the Medwise Calcutta Project to help

street children and regularly travels to Calcutta to

volunteer in a health clinic.

Dr Noel McCaffrey MB, BSc, MSc, HDipOccH, HDip (Stats), FFSEM Graduated for UCD (Medical School) 1983. Studied Sports

Medicine in London 1986-88. Worked in UCD Medical

School 1990-1996 developing and directing MSc (Sports

and Exercise Medicine) Programme. In DCU since 2000

working in School of Health and Human Performance

(primarily in the BSc(ATT) Programme area and also in DCU

Sport (special populations exercise programmes). Outside

DCU acting as director of Exwell Medical, Sports Medicine

Consultant in Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital and

also medical consultant to Riverdance

Dr. Anthony O’ Keeffe

Dr O’Keeffe is a medical graduate from UCC since 2009. He

completed his medical Basic Specialist training in Cork in

2013. He commenced his Specialist Registrar Training in

Occupational medicine in 2015 and is currently completing

his final year with Corporate Health Ireland. He currently

sits on the Board of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine

as the trainee representative.

Dr. Oghenovo ('Ovo) Oghuvbu

Dr Oghuvbu is a Specialist Occupational Physician and

Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the

Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He is the current

Chairperson of the Education Committee of the Faculty.

He was co-coordinator of the Faculty Research Group that

designed and conducted the Delphi study that forms the

subject of the presentation using live interactive audience

response technology (ART). The study was carried out as a

specific research activity to coincide with the 30th

anniversary of the Faculty.
