Advanced Improv - Mrs. EhlertIn this course, students will dive into improvisation! Improv is a unique theatrical genre in which actors perform without a script. Students will study the rules of improvisation and how to use them in various improvised scenarios. This course is designed for both the student who took Intro to Improvisation in 5th -6th grade electives, as well as actors new to improvisation. Both long- and short-form improv will be explored through drama games and scene work. Major focuses include collaboration, ensemble-building, confidence, and creative problem-solving, with a larger focus on the skills and techniques necessary to sustain a long-form improv show. The course will conclude with a school-day improv showcase.

Advanced Band- Ms. Tompkins7th and 8th grade band is our most advanced ensemble. Students wishing to enroll in advanced band must have been enrolled in band last year or audition for placement. Instruments include flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones, bassoons, trumpets, trombones, baritones, tubas and percussion. We play music of many different styles including movie soundtracks and comical pieces. We have 2 formal concerts a year and even traveled Carowinds last year to compete in Festivals of Music.

Art Around the World- Mrs. TatumStudents in this class will travel the world through art! In this class you will explore the arts, crafts and cultural traditions of many cultures around the globe without leaving Endeavor! We will use a variety of mediums such as painting, sculpture, and ceramics. Some of the projects will include making Australian Didgeridoos, Wax Batiks, Ceramic African masks, Middle Eastern Mosaics, and lots more.

Drama methods - Mrs. Ehlert

ECS Drama Methods was created for 7th and 8th graders who have a strong interest in pursuing acting. In this class students will have the opportunity to work like the professional actors by experiencing a variety of acting techniques. Throughout the course students will learn various acting methods, such as those of Stanislavski, Meisner, and Uta Hagan, that professionals in the fine arts field utilize to create truth in their acting. This class will focus on ensemble-building and the collaborative process. Students will participate in the neutral scenes and scene work during class time. The course will culminate in a school-day performance at the end of the semester.

Fun with FibersThis class will teach students how to use fibers as a medium for creating art. In this class, students will experiment with different types of fibers and learn how to manipulate them in lots of interesting ways. Some of the project highlights from this class are using hot wax to make batiks, learning how to tie-dye fabric using shibori art techniques, marbling silk, screen printing t-shirts, natural fabric dying, paper pulp paintings and paper making, basic sewing and embroidery, wet felting, and more!

P.E.P.I. kindergarten/Phys. Ed. (A day)- Mr. BurtThis class is designed for students interested in serving as physical education aides to the kindergarten students. The Elective students will teach different physical education lessons, activities and games in small groups to the kindergarten classes 1 day each week (Wednesdays).

Physical Education will be held for the elective students 1 day each week when not with the kindergarten classes (Mondays).

P.e.p.e 1st grade/phys. Ed. (b day)- mr. burtThis class is designed for students interested in serving as physical education aides to the 1st grade students. The Elective students will teach different physical education lessons, activities and games in small groups to the 1st grade classes 1 day each week (Thursdays).

Physical Education will be held for the elective students 1 day each week when not with the 1st grade classes (Tuesdays).

Culture of Spanish Speaking Countries - Ms. Bolton

There are 21 countries in the world with Spanish as one of their official

languages, and they have many similarities and differences. Do you want to be

able to recognize the difference between a bachata and merengue music, both of

which have roots in the Dominican Republic? Did you know there’s one

Spanish-speaking country in Africa? Have you ever wondered what chicha morada, a

Peruvian drink made with purple corn, tastes like? Come learn about these diverse

countries and their food, music, beliefs and celebrations. Throughout this

course, you will also be evaluating your own culture and beliefs. The main

language of instruction in this class is English.

Music Chamber Ensembles Duets, Trios, quartets and more! This is an audition based musical ensemble with limited available spots. We will be diving deeper into instrumental music technique, focusing on developing good tone, phrasing and intonation through advanced small ensemble music. We will be holding auditions on Thursday the 26th during the normal afternoon elective block.If you want to audition and did not pick up the music at meet the teacher, stop by the music room and pick up a copy if you are interested! The audition will be a short prepared excerpt and Concert Bb and Eb scales and a short sight reading piece.

Creative Writing- Mrs. TudorExplore writing as an art and a craft by playing with words and understanding how words create meaning. We will discover the power of word choice, sensory language, figurative language, and structure. Students will learn about famous writers and poets and will also have many opportunities to build their own stories and compose their own poetry.

Classroom AssistantYou will have the opportunity to assist a teacher at Endeavor. The work will vary depending on your placement. You may assist with small groups of students, file papers, create bulletin boards or classroom materials, or establish a tutoring relationship with a single student. You must have excellent attendance and citizenship to participate in this class.

Choosing Your ElectiveIf you choose BAND, you WILL get BAND.
