2/ Seaver App

How to install the Seaver app on my phone?Just go to the store of your phone (Google Play on Android, App Store on iOS) to download the Seaver app, it is free!

Do I have to create an account?Yes, each rider must have an account in his name. On the other hand, each account can have several registered horses. You can create your account using your email address, your Facebook or Google account. For your information, the account with which you placed your order on the Seaver website e-shop is not related to the application.

Can I remove the Seaver app from my phone without losing my data?Yes, all your trainings are safely stored in our servers. Thus, you can log into your account from any phone in order to launch a new training or when you simply want to view your previous trainings.

Note: If you have some pending trainings, the data have not yet been sent to the server. Do not disconnect or delete the application in this case.

How to download the latest updates? On your phone, go to Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS) to get the latest updates. Thanks to the updates, you will be able to enjoy new features. Do not hesitate to follow Seaver on social networks or subscribe to our newsletters to be informed on the latest updates! 5

GIRTH-Girth: all the technology is hidden in there!-Withers electrode: Along with the integrated electrode of your girth, it allows you to get the heart rate of your horse. -Tape measure: measure your horse to configure his unique profile-Charger: simply place the induction charger on your Seaver device to recharge it

How to create the profile of my horse? On your Seaver app, go to the tab at the bottom left representing a horse head. Add a new horse. Fill in all the pieces of information needed about your horse.

How to take the measurements of my horse?Height at the withers: place your horse on a flat and even ground. If you do not have access to a board, you can estimate the height at the withers with more or less 5 cm.

Girth height: holding the measuring tape verticular, measure the height between the floor and the Seaver sensor.

Shoulder-girth length: locate the middle of the shoulder (between the tip of the shoulder and the elbow of your horse). Then put a finger in the middle of the strap cover (at the webbing) and go up to the shoulder level. You will need to take the measurement between this point and the middle of the horse's shoulder, perpendicular to the line you have drawn with your finger.

Weight: a guesstimate of the weight of your horse at more or less 30-50 kilos is enough. If you want to be more precise, you can follow one of the calculation formulas listed by the National Studs : https://www.haras-nationaux.fr/information/accueil-equipae-dia/alimentation/comprendre-la-nutrition/estimation-du-poids.html?L=0

Tips: It's easier to take the girth height and shoulder-girth length measurements when your horse is saddled. All this information is imaged in the "?" in the app.

How to know the battery level of my Seaver device? In order to be able to see the battery level, you need to connect in Bluetooth your phone to your Seaver device through the Seaver app. If the battery is 0%, the app will not be able to detect your Seaver device.

3/ Seaver device How do I connect my phone to my Seaver girth sleeve or to my Seaver girth?First, you need to turn on the Bluetooth on your phone. Open the Seaver app and click on the Bluetooth icon at the bottom right. You should see your Seaver girth sleeve or Seaver girth appear. Click on the product you want to pair with. Once connected, you will see the battery level of your Seaver.

Note: when a Seaver device is connected to a phone, it is no longer visible on other phones. Make sure to connect in Bluetooth only through the application (be careful to not pair it in the Bluetooth settings of your phone).

What can I do if I do not detect my Seaver device?Make sure you have your Seaver device near your phone. Then check these three points:

LOADING: Most often when your Seaver is not detected it is not loaded. Put your product in charge 1 to 2 minutes and see if it appears in your Seaver app. Only charged girth can be recognized by the Seaver app.

PROXIMITY: Bluetooth has a range of 20 to 50 meters. Some materials or interferences may decrease this distance.

LOCATION: Go to the settings of your phone, activate the location for your phone, and add the permission "location" for the application Seaver. If the problem persists, contact us at [email protected] 7

Is a Seaver product linked to a single account? No, absolutely not, you can use any Seaver girth sleeve or Seaver girth with your Seaver account. An account can have multiple horse profiles and can match all types of Seaver products. When an account is connected in Bluetooth to a Seaver device, it will no longer be detected by other phones. On the other hand, each rider must have his own account. The weight of the rider is an important parameter in the results obtained.

How to attach my Seaver GIRTH SLEEVE?Use the long straps or scratches to attach your girth sleeve to your usual girth. Position the girth sleeve in the center of your girth.

How to attach my Seaver GIRTH?Tighten your Seaver girth like a classic girth. Make sure to tighten right and left evenly in order to keep the black case as centered as possible.

How to place the remote electrode? The withers's electrode is placed under the saddle pad, behind the shoulder and in the area under the withers of the horse. The spikes must be in contact with the horse's skin. The electrode is wedged under the padding of the saddle, under the saddle pad, and should not be on the line of the horse’s back. While staying in this area, you can move the electrode at each workout to avoid having the same point of contact.

IMPORTANT: It is necessary to moisten the areas of the horse where the two electrodes are placed (girth area and under the saddle pad). Use water or conductive gel (neutral gel that you can easily get on our website or at your vet).

Two options are possible-Use of water: wet both electrodes and the horse where the electrodes are placed.-Using gel: put gel on both electrodes. It is not necessary to put on the horse unless in winter when his hair is thick. Note: The electrode has been scientifically tested with a pressure pad, we can assure you, especially thanks to the material used, that it does not apply harmful pressure on the horse's back. We have also considered safety issues: if anything gets caught in the wire, it will immediately detach from the snap to avoid any risk of injury, without breaking the Seaver device.

What to do with the wire and the snap? You can let the wire run freely under the saddle pad and the girth. You can roll it around the girth if it is too long. Just snap on the pressure button of the withers’ electrode on your Seaver girth sleeve or Seaver girth. Is there a risk with the withers’ electrode wire? For the safety of the rider and the horse, the snap button will release the wire in case of problems.

Can I ride with martingales, breast-plates etc. ?Yes, of course, you can attach your reins under your Seaver girth sleeve. As long as it is well attached and it is not likely to create parasitic movements, this is fine. It is simply necessary to avoid passing the reins on the integrated electrode located in the girth area.

Note: Before a training, I make sure to charge my Seaver girth sleeve or my Seaver girth.

How to start a training? On my Seaver app, I select the "+" centered at the bottom of my screen. I then choose a Seaver device (except if I'm already connected to my Seaver girth sleeve or Seaver girth) and select which horse I am riding. Finally, I start my training by pressing "start".I wait for 30 seconds if the cardio is well detected and stable. It must be around 30 to 40 bpm at halt ; for ponies, the heart rate can be 60 bpm at halt. It can take 10 to 30 seconds to have values other than 0 displayed, the time for the sensor to detect several consecutive heartbeats.

Can I watch my data in live?During your session, you have direct access to your horse's heart rate, the calories burned, your speed and the duration of your workout. All other data will be available only at the end of your session. Is it possible to use my Seaver while working on lunge rein?Of course ! Please note that if you keep your phone in your pocket when you lunge your horse, the distance and speed will be wrong (because the app uses the GPS of the phone to calculate this data). Remember to tell the application that the phone was not linked to the horse (at the end of you training you will be ask if the phone was on the horse or not) to avoid unnecessary consideration of this speed. 10

Is my Seaver product water resistant?Yes, it is splash proof. You can ride under the rain! Just avoid soaking your Seaver girth sleeve or Seaver girth in the water. After a wet training, it is advisable to dry your Seaver product properly.

Is it necessary to keep my phone on me when I'm riding? You need your phone near your Seaver device in order to start a training and finish it. Once on the saddle, you can ride without your phone.Nevertheless, there are two things to note: the distance and speed will not be calculated (the app uses the GPS of the phone) and the data recovery time will be a bit longer when you finish your training. As a general rule, it is best to go up with your phone to collect all the data, but if you do not want or can not, it's not a problem!

I do not have any Internet connection, does it matter?Do not worry, you can use your Seaver device and app without any internet connection. At the end of your session, the data will not be sent to the server, so you will have your training in the “pending to upload” section on the homepage. You can have multiple trainings pending at a time.To upload a training that is pending, you simply have to connect to a good internet network (WIFI or 4G) and click on the refresh button (the rotating arrow). You do not need to have your Seaver device next to you for this step.If that does not work, try putting your phone in airplane mode for a good minute, then try refreshing the home page of your Seaver app after disabling airplane mode.

During my training, my phone lost the Bluetooth connection with my Seaver device, is it a major problem?Do not worry, just bring your phone closer to your Seaver device so that Bluetooth connects again. Your Seaver device keeps registering the whole time, the app will reconnect and resume collecting data.If you lose the Bluetooth connection, a small charging wheel will appear with the term "connecting device" until the connection is recovered.

It is only possible to end your training if your phone is connected to the Seaver device. At the end of your training, you might need to dismount and bring the phone closer to your girth in order to recover the signal. If the signal is difficult to detect again, turning the Bluetooth of your phone off and on can help.

Please note that the longer your phone was disconnected from your girth during the training, the longer the data recovery will be at the end of training. As a consequence, after clicking STOP, the "computing data" process before the validation phase can take a few minutes. It is necessary to stay next to the Seaver device, this is the stage where the data is sent from the Seaver girth sleeve or Seaver girth to the application (on your phone).Once you are on the screen asking you to evaluate your training and answer a few questions, all the data have been successfully retrieved from your Seaver device. You do not have to be near your Seaver device on this last step of data processing, you can take care of your horse!

12

I quit the app during my training, what can I do?It is possible to resume a session in progress if the app has closed unexpectedly. The Seaver device continues to collect data as long as the app does not order it to stop. You can recover the session by reconnecting to your Seaver device. The recovery of all data may be long (5-10 minutes). The speed and distance data will be lost because it is linked to the GPS of the phone (which stopped collecting it when the application closed) and not to the Seaver device (which continued to work). I no longer have access to my Seaver girth sleeve / my Seaver girth and an error message appears, what can I do?Wait 2 hours for your Seaver device to unlock and try to reconnect. If it still does not work, let your Seaver product fully discharge (until your phone does not detect it anymore) then recharge it and try again. If an error message still appears, please contact us. How to stop a training?Just click on STOP. This step retrieves all the pieces of information that have been collected with your Seaver device. You will get to a screen that will ask you to fill in information about your session: discipline, evaluation, comment etc. and ask if you used the withers's electrode and if you kept your phone on you. After filling in the requested information, just click on DONE. This step takes place in two stages (1/2, 2/2) and sends all the data to the server, so you no longer need to be near your Seaver.

13

You will see, it may take a few minutes depending on the length of your session and the quality of your network. During this processing step, you can leave your phone in your pocket and take care of your horse! If you do not have a good network in the stable, no problem: the message "pending to upload" will appear on your homepage. Once on a good internet connection, you will have to refresh your app, to send the data to the server and analyze your results.

I analyze my data

How to analyze my data? The best way is to work regularly with your Seaver device to get basic and regular features of each horse and follow his evolution. To learn more about the different features, visit our blog: https://seaverhorse.com/category/blog/ Why are speed and distance not looking good?Calculations are made from the GPS of your phone. You must wear it on you while riding and check that your phone is not in battery saving mode or airplane mode. Please note that in an indoor arena (especially if the frame or roof is metallic) GPS data are rarely accurate. Is the cardio chart good?A good cardio chart is representative of your session and identifies the phases of work and recovery. When the heartbeat chart oscillates wildly and very quickly, that is, it goes from 70 bpm to 200 bpm, then goes back down to 50 bpm and then goes up to 140 bpm and there's a lot of overtraining, that's probably means that the measurement was not recorded correctly. We say that there is "noise", like a sizzling radio, the data is skewed due to some interference.

Next time, be sure to wet both electrodes and tighten your girth to ensure a better contact.

15

I quit the app during my training, what can I do?It is possible to resume a session in progress if the app has closed unexpectedly. The Seaver device continues to collect data as long as the app does not order it to stop. You can recover the session by reconnecting to your Seaver device. The recovery of all data may be long (5-10 minutes). This step takes place in two stages (1/2, 2/2) and sends all the data to the server, so you no longer need to be near your Seaver.

If the problem persists, please contact us: [email protected].

Warning: if the cardio is bad the energy expenses / calorie data will be wrong as well. Also note that caloric expenses figure is only reliable if you have correctly informed the weight of the horse and the weight of the rider.

16

The symmetry of my horse is not good, do I have to worry?Symmetry is calculated when the horse is trotting in a straight line for more than 10 seconds. On the first sessions, it will be difficult to gauge, except if the symmetry gap is higher than 5%. The best is to observe the evolution of the symmetry of your horse on several sessions in the same circumstances. TComparing makes it possible to confirm or not some data. Each rider must couple the analysis of his symmetry with his feelings and the context of the training. If you have done lateral work or worked on unstable ground (puddle, slippery ground, uneven ground, etc.), the horse could be disturbed. After several trainings, it is possible to identify a trend and thus be alerted in case of anomalies. If you notice that there is more than 30 seconds in the red zone (strong asymmetry), there may be a lameness.

Why there is jumps detected in my training and yet I have not cross any obstacles?Care must be taken to properly secure your Seaver device so that there is no parasitic motion. Some sudden stops, jumps, kicks can create a jump. Indeed, the Seaver device detects a jump when it records an elevation coupled to a swing. Depending on the course of the training, it will be possible to analyze what was the factor that led to this "jump".

Jumps coupled with aberrant results were detected, why is that?First of all, check that the Seaver device is following the horse's movement, a loose girth will cause parasitic movements. For a jump to be well recorded, the Seaver device should record an elevation and a swing. In the case of banks, the values may appear abnormal because the Seaver device detects the elevation but not the swing. That is why you always have to pair up what you did with the results you have.
