A COAT OF PREVENTEX™ IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE Preventex™ is a coating that when applied to any wood or drywall surface works as a preservative to prevent the damaging effects of moisture. Preventex™ is used as a primer before applying a topcoat like WonderPaint™ or WonderClear™, preserving the beauty of the wood or protecting the integrity of drywall for years to come.

HOW IT WORKS When applied, Preventex™ saturates into the cellulose fibers of any wood or paper on drywall and actually becomes a part of the material it is applied to. It fills the pours in the cellulose and actually converts some of the cellulose to a stable polymer. This stable polymer component provides a superior surface for the topcoat to adhere to ensuring a final finish that won’t crack or peel, and is an impenetrable barrier to moisture. But we didn’t stop there. Preventex™ goes a step further by employing anti-fungal and anti-microbial chemistry giving it an added layer of protection against damage caused by mold, mildew, algae, fungi and wood rot.

TOOLS NEEDEDRoller, paint brush, garden sprayer without nozzle, airless sprayer or hopper gun. Although the product is environmentally friendly and non-toxic, is recommended that rubber gloves and eye protection be used to comply with OSHA requirements.

PROCEDURE This is an overview. Please read the detailed instructions in the “Best Performance” section prior to application to ensure top performance on specific surface materials.

Preventex™ works best on clean, dry surfaces that are free from dust, dirt and contaminants when the exterior temperature is not lower than 45°F and rising to a temperature not higher than 100˚F ( 7°C—38°C ).

1. Thoroughly clean the surface and remove surface contaminants such as dust or dirt without damaging the substrate.

2. Allow sufficient time for cleaned surface to thoroughly dry before applying Preventex™.

3. Always mix Preventex™ thoroughly.4. Apply according to surface it is being applied to

in the “Best Performance” section.

DRYING TIME/RE-COAT Dry to the touch: 30 minutes when relative humidity is no more than 60%. Allows 2-3 hours dry time before applying a second coat.

CLEAN-UP Water soluble prior to drying. Clean tools and containers with water prior to drying.

STORAGE & SHELF LIFE12 month shelf life, based on the following:• Containers stored upright and airtight in a cool,

dry place. AVOID FREEZING.• Skins formed on surface of product should be

removed prior to mixing, moving or using.


FOR BEST PERFORMANCEFollow these detailed process instructions for best performance on the following surface materials:

WOODEN DECKING & WOODEN SHAKE SIDING AND SHAKE SHINGLES Clean with a non-chlorine bleach using a pressure washer on a low pressure setting.

STEP 2 — Let the surface dry completely for 24 hours before applying Preventex™.

STEP 3 — Apply Preventex™ with a roller or a brush.

STEP 4 — Allow Preventex™ to dry for 3 hours.

STEP 5 — Apply top coat of WonderClear™.

ASPHALT SHINGLESSTEP 1 — Clean with WonderClean™ using a pressure washer on a low pressure setting.

STEP 2 — Let the surface dry completely (at least 24 hours) before applying Preventex™ STEP 3 — Apply Preventex™ with a hopper gun and back roll. STEP 4 — Allow Preventex™ to dry for 3 hrs. STEP 5 — Apply top coat of WonderBlock™.

DRYWALL / SHEET ROCKSTEP 1 — Clean with WonderClean™ using a pressure washer on a low pressure setting.

STEP 2 — Let the surface dry completely (at least 24 hours) before applying Preventex™.

STEP 3 — Apply Preventex™ with a roller.

STEP 4 — Allow Preventex™ to dry for 3 hrs.

STEP 5 — Apply top coat of WonderPaint™ or Wallpaper.

FIRST AIDAlthough Preventex™ is water-based, contains no VOCs and is non-toxic:

• If Preventex™ comes in contact with your skin, wash it off with soap and water.

• If it gets into your eyes, rinse with running water for 15-20 minutes. Rest with the eye closed for 15 minutes. Call Poison Control if there is any pain or trouble with vision.

• If swallowed, give a small amount of water or milk to drink. Watch for stomach upset, vomiting and diarrhea. If conditions persist, call Poison Control.

• If someone inhales fumes and feels dizzy or lightheaded, immediately get to fresh air and call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
