We have officially entered 2014 with enthusiasm as we look forward to what this year brings to our program. Thank you to all who attended the parent meeting last month. Just a reminder I am waiting on your feedback on the following: Do you have any additional fundraising ideas? What are some ways we can help your family’s needs and not just your child’s? Are you interested in learning more about Conscious Discipline? For example we could have a book study for parents or monthly webinars. As we prepare to renew our accreditation from NAEYC and apply for a fifth star, here are some helpful websites to keep you informed: NAEYC renewal process for 2014 visit NAEYC’s family website at http://families.naeyc.org/ Ohio has a new website www.earlychildhoodohio.org - this website has information about all state happenings and SUTQ. From Your Child’s Teacher:

From the Classroom:

It’s finally February!! Wow what a winter it has been! We will be wrapping up our study on clothes this month.

The children have been learning how clothes are made, who wears what, and the difference between man-made fibers and

natural fibers. We have removed the usual kitchen in dramatic play and replaced it with a clothing store. The children are

having a blast shopping and being cashiers.

The children really enjoyed our trip to the Western Reserve Historical Society. They got to see old cars and planes.

They also like playing on the replica of the Tinkerbell. The Tinkerbell is a little wooden boat in which a man sailed across

the ocean. They also got to practice driving safety with a Go Wheelie. That is a stick with one wheel at the end and a

steering wheel at the other end.

We celebrated the Chinese New Year last month as well. This is the Year of the Horse. Thank you to Corwin’s

mom, Jeanne, for bringing some decorations and a lucky red envelope for each child. We also made traditional almond

cookies in Cooking Club.

This month we will be learning about our bodies at the Museum of Natural History. The children will get to meet

Stuffie and learn about our organs inside our bodies. They will also be learning about exercise. We have been working on

our color sight words. We have introduced them to red, green, and blue so far. We will be introducing purple next. Please

be practicing these at home with your child.

Have a great month!

Sara, Julie F., Karen, and Julie P.
