THE FERRYHILL Six are delighted to let all their customers and support-ers know that they raised £3,000 during 2019.
All this money has now been donated to help local good causes.
A spokesperson for the

“Ian has done a fantastic job in a short time.
“His mission is to pro-vide a beautiful bit of countryside for the local
community to visit, explore and enjoy.
“Our donation will enable Ian to put in place a wide range of improvements to further enhance this beautiful area, and make it a place where people can visit and enjoy the great
outdoors. We wish Ian every success with this amazing venture.
“Thanks as always must go to our brilliant custom-ers and supporters, we could not have raised this amazing total of £3,000 without all of you.”

LOCAL GROUPS INVITED TO ANNUAL TOWN MEETINGFERRYHILL TOWN Coun-cil would like to invite local groups and organ-isations to attend this year’s Annual Town Meet-ing to give a presentation, provide a display of their recent successes, or both.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide an opportunity for groups to showcase their work and share their plans for the forthcoming year.
It is envisaged that the meeting will facilitate an exchange of ideas and information between the town’s various stakehold-ers and encourage part-nership working in the future.
This year’s Annual Town Meeting will take place at 6pm on Thursday 14th May at St Luke’s Parish Centre.
Any group or organisa-tion interested in attend-ing the Annual Town Meeting to deliver a pres-entation or provide a dis-play should contact Karen Younghusband at Ferry-hill Town Hall on 01740 652157 or email kyoung [email protected].

Cleves Cross were carried out. The remains of a pit were found and experts at the time said that this was the pit in which the boar had been trapped before being slain.
The original memorial stone has been housed in a display case within Fer-ryhill Town Hall for a num-ber of years and mem-bers recently agreed that the stone should be dis-played in a more promi-
nent place and has sub-sequently been installed in the wall at the front of Ferryhill Town Hall.
Mayor of Ferryhill, Councillor Joe Make-peace said: “I feel this is an important part of the history of our town and should be displayed for all to see and what bet-ter place than the front of the most prominent building in the centre of the town.”
THERE ARE several the-ories regarding the origin of the name Ferryhill.
One of those is that the last wild boar of Bran-cepeth was slayed by Sir Roger de Ferry in 1200 AD near the site of Cleves Cross Farm and there is still a plaque in the Cleves Cross area of Ferryhill to commemorate this.

Durham County Council is recruiting young people aged 11 to 17 to sit on the youth council, which will offer a platform for them to share their opinions on a range of topics affecting the whole county.
Run by young people, for young people, the council will meet monthly and will set its own agenda based on this issues that young people feel most strongly about.
The group will be granted its own budget to spend on projects that benefit young
