What is field labeling?Field labeling is the process of inspection and application of a label onto a product to indicate that basic electrical and safety requirements are met for entrance into the North American market. In the U.S., testing for compliance must be performed by an authorized Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). In Canada, the equivalent process is known as Special Inspection and must be performed by an Inspection Body approved by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).

To carry out these services, our experts require the mandatory operation, assembly and maintenance manuals, a list of safety-relevant components, and schematic diagrams.

Preliminary reviewOur experts provide on-site testing for a test specimen that is technologically identical or comparable to the one to be installed in the U.S. or Canada. This review also points out differences between U.S. and European health and safety requirements.

Pre-field evaluation servicesThis involves testing a machine manufactured for export to the U.S. or Canada, ready for shipment, in order to produce a preliminary test report.

Final field evaluation servicesThis review tests a machine that has been transported to the place of installation in the U.S. or Canada in order to produce a final test report plus subsequent affixing of the field label.
