Classes 3-5 heavily based on lecture and rote learning

The changing roles of Margadarshis. They need academic support and access to computers

3 TLCs –learning centres where teachers interact- fortnightly discussions and seminars

Support of the community - limited. The drop out rates 10 to 15 % each year

Jathas and melas organised to involve community. These activities generated interest. Recordings of these melas could be used for the teacher portal.

None of the schools in Shorapur have computers yet

Children do have television in their homes but very few have handled mobiles

The Technology in Education team is working towards giving computer training to teachers.

Teachers and margadarshis wanted access to computers. Margadarshis have been trained.

A grave reality - 12 hrs of power-cut a day

A lot of ground work needs to be done in this region before the teachers are ready to use computers in the classrooms
