Field TripLA Metro – Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project Wednesday, November 9 Departure: 7:30 am Return: No later than 11 am Following a safety indoctrination, the tour will be conducted at the Exposition Station on Metro’s Crenshaw Corridor Transportation Project currently under construction. Exposition Station is the most northerly situated cut-and-cover underground transit station and is the access location for all tunnel activities. There are three underground stations located along the route of the twin light-rail subway tunnels beneath Crenshaw Blvd. Visitors will be able to observe the concurrent construction activities associated with underground station structural concrete work and how this work is scheduled with the tunnel operations.
The visit will demonstrate the tunnel train activities of muck handling and precast segment handling while working out of the main station footprint. The site visit will afford an opportunity to view street traffic decking operations, support of excavation and utility support work beneath the traffic street decking and coordination of public and private business and community relationships.
The trip will include tour, transportation and a light snack. Attendees are advised to wear sturdy shoes, no tennis or dress shoes. WSCC will provide hardhats, safety glasses, gloves and vests.
